Texas A&M running back Cyrus Gray has a bruised shoulder and his status is uncertain for Thanksgiving night against Texas.
Gray hurt the shoulder in Saturday’s romp over Kansas and coach Mike Sherman says that the running back needs to be further evaluated. Christine Michael is done for the season after tearing his ACL a couple of weeks ago, so A&M could be very short at this position come Thursday. With the Aggies leaving for the SEC, this is sadly the last scheduled game between the Lone Star State rivals. Mon, Nov 21, 2011 12:09:00 PM

Running back Cyrus Gray ran for 94 yards and three touchdowns in the Aggies' easy win over Kansas.

Gray only got nine carries on the day, but one-third of them went for touchdowns, including two 30+ yard dashes to the end zone. Gray averaged 10.4 yards per carry Saturday during the team's 61-7 win over the Jayhawks. The senior had another good game, his second consecutive since becoming the team's featured back. Gray went over the 1,000 yard rushing mark during the game and reached 12 touchdowns for the season.

Texas A&M running back Cyrus Gray ran for 221 yards and two touchdowns in a 53-50 loss to Kansas State.

Gray ran for a season-high 7.1 yards per carry on his 31 carries, and had touchdown runs of 7 and 10 yards. Gray had only averaged 43.5 yards in his last two games, so the 221 yard outburst is a welcome sight for Aggies fans. Gray now has rushed for 954 yards and nine touchdowns this season.

Texas A&M running back Christine Michael rushed for 52 yards on 11 carries and two scores in Saturday's Maroon & White game. Cyrus Gray had 11 yards on five carries.

For those quick to draft Gray this summer, don't forget about Michael. Michael was the starter last fall before he broke his tibia against Texas Tech in Week Nine, giving Gray the opportunity to tear it up in the second half of the season. Based on his late season performance, we'll give the starting nod to Gray, but be careful with this one.

Gray is on fire, and every week he's proving himself to be one of the nation's better backs.

We've been singing Gray's praises for weeks, and if he's somehow still available in your league then he's a must-have for the playoff stretch.

Texas A&M running backs Christine Michael and Cyrus Gray each scored a touchdown as the Aggies came back to beat Florida International.  Michael finished with 114 yards on 21 carries while Gray added 85 rushing yards on nine attempts.

Michael has now eclipsed 100 rushing yards in all three games, and Gray now has TDs in each of the last two games.  After watching Jerrod Johnson struggle tonight, the Aggies may shift their offensive balance a bit more toward the run game in the short-term.

Cyrus Gray started Sunday's Texas A&M scrimmage with a 63 yard run on the first play.  Gray finished with three carries for 77 yards on the day and was held back from more work as a precaution. Freshman running back Christine Michael had nine carries for 56 yards and a touchdown. Coach Mike Sherman: "...Christine needs to learn his assignments a little bit better, he was on the wrong side a couple of times, and he missed protection once on a pressure."

Trouble with pass blocking is the top reason to keep talented freshman running backs (or any running back for that matter) out of the playing rotation. The RB situation is likely to remain a committee deal with Gray, Michael and Bradley Stephens all in the mix.

For the second straight week, freshman running back for the Texas A&M Aggies, Cyrus Gray, led the team in rushing, this afternoon taking 11 carries for 80 yards versus the Colorado Buffaloes, a 7.3 yard per carry average.

He's not quite at the point where we consider him a major threat out of the backfield, but for a freshman, taking a combined 25 carries for 149 yards and a touchdown over the past two weeks certainly isn't anything to shake a stick at.

Considering the difficulties which Texas A&M has had in terms of running the ball on offense so far this season, the 14 carries for 69 yards and a touchdown that freshman Cyrus Gray put up this evening in a 49-35 win over the Iowa State Cyclones is a rather refreshing development.

Could Gray get more carries now that he produced solid numbers against ISU? Mike Sherman may be a beleaguered coach at this point in time in 2008, but is showing a knack for starting underclassmen that clearly point toward a brighter future tomorrow. First Jerrod Johnson; then Ryan Tannehill; and now Gray . . . this could be a keeper waiting to happen, so fantasy owners, take note.
