Boise State senior receiver Tyler Shoemaker caught three touchdown passes in Friday night’s win at Toledo.

Shoemaker was the third-leading receiver last season (32-582) behind Titus Young and Austin Pettis, who have departed. The senior was among a few receivers vying for increased playing time, but only has six receptions after two games. However, four of them have resulted in touchdowns, including three of his four receptions in Friday night’s win at Toledo.

Graduation took its toll on the Boise State receiver corps, but there are plenty of candidates to step up, including senior Tyler Shoemaker.

Shoemaker is the Broncos’ leading returning receiver having caught 32 passes for 582 yards (18.2) last season. While he is likely to play a nice role, QB and Heisman candidate Kellen Moore may have several receivers to choose from this season. The hope is that a couple of them emerge as big-time playmakers in the mold of the departed Austin Pettis and Titus Young. "Certainly going into the first game we’ll have to establish who those core guys are going to be," said Moore.

Boise State wideout Tyler Shoemaker netted 105 yards on four catches Saturday night against Bowling Green.

Austin Pettis and Titus Young continue to be the go-to targets for BSU quarterback Kellen Moore, but consider Shoemaker a solid third-option at wide receiver in WAC-oriented  or deep leagues.
