Oregon quarterback Darron Thomas will enter the NFL draft.
It's a move that is very surprising. Few if any pundits expected Thomas to declare. In fact, one NFL draft board had him ranked as the 12th-best quarterback -- for the 2013 class. Thomas is Oregon's all-time leader in touchdown passes with 66 and ranks seventh in passing yards with 5,910. Sun, Jan 15, 2012 09:58:00 PM

Oregon's Darron Thomas threw for 268 yards and 3 touchdowns in a 45-38 Rose Bowl win over Wisconsin.

Thomas' 11-yard touchdown pass to Lavasier Tuinei early in the fourth quarter was the decisive score as the Ducks went up 42-38. With a trio of TD passes, Thomas had 10 in the last three games and he finished the season with 33 in only 339 attempts, or nearly one every 10 passes.

Oregon quarterback Darron Thomas accounted for 279 yards and 4 touchdowns (3 throwing) in a 49-31 win over UCLA in the Pac-12 championship game.

Thomas was 20-of-36 for 219 yards and 3/1 via the air and 9-60-1 on the ground. The junior has passed for 30 TDs and run for 3 this season. He has thrown at least 3 touchdown passes six times this year. Thomas' INT snapped a streak of four games without one.

Oregon coach Chip Kelly says Darron Thomas is "very underappreciated" after his quarterback did not even garner Honorable Mention in Pac-12 awards.

Of course, when all-conference teams are announced there is always going to be some criticism. Andrew Luck and Matt Barkley garnered First- and Second-Team honors, respectively. And they should have. Arizona’s Nick Foles and Keith Price of Washington received Honorable Mention consideration. Thomas did not. Some of Thomas’ numbers pale to Foles and Price and he missed one game and sat out one half of another. The argument for Thomas largely stems from the Ducks’ record and that the junior is 12th nationally in pass efficiency.

Oregon’s Darron Thomas threw for 294 yards and 4 touchdowns in a 49-21 victory over Oregon State in the Civil War.

Thomas had a season-high 25 completions (38 attempts) and he came within one of his season high for yards, which was 295 against Nevada on Sept. 10. His 4 TDs passes are second to the 6 he threw against the Wolf Pack. Thomas has 9 touchdown passes without a pick in the past four games.

Oregon quarterback Darron Thomas expects to be the starter when the Ducks host Washington on Saturday.

Coach Chip Kelly has yet to say as much, but Thomas says there is no QB controversy in Eugene, his knees are getting better and he will be ready for the Huskies. Thomas played the first half of a 43-28 against Washington State last week, throwing for 153 yards and 1/2. Bryan Bennett played the second half. Thomas has said the coaching staff was protecting his knees, which he banged up against Arizona State on Oct. 15.

Oregon quarterback Darron Thomas returned against Washington State and he threw for 153 yards with one TD and two picks before being pulled in a 43-28 win.

It was widely thought that Thomas would return to action this week. He was 8-of-13 for 153 yards and 1/2 in one half before he was pulled by coach Chip Kelly. Thomas did not see any action in the second half.

Oregon quarterback Darron Thomas could return for Saturday's game against Washington State.

Thomas thought he could have started last week at Colorado, but there was no need to press the issue against the inferior Buffaloes. Thomas banged up his knees against Arizona State on Oct. 15 and having another week off can only be of benefit as the Ducks get ready for a stretch run that includes trips to Washington and Stanford.

Oregon quarterback Darron Thomas says he expects to play Saturday at Colorado.

There have been conflicting reports as to whether Thomas has been working with the first unit, but coach Chip Kelly said Thomas and Bryan Bennett have been getting plenty of snaps. If Thomas does play, don’t expect him to change his running style. Yet, he said he needs to ramp up his field awareness and hit the deck when he is about to be hit.

Oregon quarterback Darron Thomas did not practice with the starters on Tuesday.

As usual with coach Chip Kelly's Ducks, bits of information are few and far. That said, Oregon will be taking on a depleted Colorado team on the road Saturday and there will be no need to rush Thomas back under center.

Oregon quarterback Darron Thomas said he could have returned to action against Arizona State after banging up his knees, but coach Chip Kelly held off from saying his QB is ready for Colorado.

If it gets to be late in the week and there is any question as to whether Thomas is fully ready for Colorado on Saturday, then Kelly should go with redshirt freshman Bryan Bennett. After all, the Buffaloes are 85th in total defense and would likely struggle to contain the RB duo of Kenjon Barner and De’Anthony Thomas. Bennett could again follow the marching orders Kelly gave him in the second half against ASU: play it close to the vest and do not turn the ball over.

Thomas had thrown for 187 yards and 2 TDs with the Ducks trailing, 24-21, at the time of his exit. Oregon went on to win, 41-27. Thomas was replaced by freshman Bryan Bennett, who was 2-of-5 for 22 yards.

Thomas was 13-of-17 for 187 yards and 2/1 when he left the field early in the third quarter. Oregon trailed at the time, 24-21. Thomas was replaced by freshman Bryan Bennett, who had previously seen action in three games and was 7-of-13, 95 yards and 2 TDs.

Darron Thomas completed 11-of-15 passes for 206 yards and three scores, as the Ducks reeled off touchdowns in eight of nine possessions against FCS Missouri State.

Thomas was able to go though multiple progressions, completing consecutive passes of 40 yards to Rahsaan Vaughn and Lavasier Tuinei, followed by a seven yard touchdown to freshman TE Colt Lyerla. "I was really impressed with the two deep balls he threw back-to-back, making great decisions on them," Chip Kelly said. "When we can throw the ball vertically down the field, that’s obviously going to add a little bit more to our offense." Oregon finished with 265 yards passing and 681 yards of total offense.

Six of Darron Thomas’ 13 completions went for touchdowns in Oregon’s rout of visiting Nevada.

Talk about taking out some frustration following the loss to LSU. That’s what Oregon did against Nevada in a resounding 69-20 win. Thomas’ six scoring strikes were spread among five players.
