Boston College OT Matt Patchan visited the 49ers on a pre-draft visit last week.
Patchan (6-foot-6, 302 pounds) began his six-year collegiate career at Florida before transferring to BC. The former defensive lineman's career has unfortunately been littered with health problems, including a leg injury, a torn ACL and back issues. Because of that rap sheet, Patchan might be a group value pick. He's mean, and he's athletic, and he also has a fan in draft insider Tony Pauline, who wrote of the Eagle: "After flashing ability at Florida, Patchan started to develop a complete game last season and moves towards the draft as one of the more underrated offensive tackle prospects available. Still rough around the edges, he could develop into a starter at the next level if he continues to progress and stays healthy." Mon, Apr 21, 2014 12:24:00 AM

The Florida Gator's defensive line depth has taken several blows in recent weeks. Defensive end Matt Patchan is out with a torn MCL and defensive tackle Brandon Antwine is doubtful with a sprained knee.

Antwine started in place of Lawrence Marsh, who was held out against FSU with a sprained knee. Head coach Urban Meyer expects Marsh to be back for the SEC title game against Alabama.
