New Mexico State running backs Seth Smith and Kenny Turner were stellar despite the Aggies losing to conference foe Fresno State.  Smith led the ground game with 91 yards on just 11 carries while Turner chipped in another 79 yards and a touchdown on 15 rushes.  Turner also led the team in receiving with three catches for 61 yards.
Due to the ineffectiveness of the offense, neither is a fantasy option, unless the situation is just right. Sun, Oct 17, 2010 10:15:00 AM

New Mexico State senior running back Seth Smith carried the ball 16 times for 52 yards and a score in the loss to Kansas.

The 16 carries is the important stuff; he'll not be running against defenses that have the same level of talent as Kansas for much of the season.

New Mexico State running back coach Shaun Johnson is looking to build off of an already established foundation in the Aggies' backfield.  That foundation is returning 1,000-yard rusher Seth Smith and Johnson is is looking to see Smith reach 1,500 yards in 2010.

Smith was a surprise workhorse for the Aggies and is someone to keep an eye on.  The Aggies are committed to the run so expect an increase in yards and a definite increase over the lone rushing touchdown from Smith last year.  Smith is a sleeper pick in deeper leagues and in all-WAC leagues.

New Mexico State running back Seth Smith rushed 19 times for 104 yards against Fresno State.

Smith was kept out of the endzone again, and only has one touchdown on the season.  He is up to 598 yards though, and you could find worse plug ins if you are hurting at running back.

New Mexico State running back Seth Smith carried 31 times for 113 yards Saturday as the Aggies upended New Mexico 20-17 on the road.

Smith broke the 100 yard rushing mark for the second time in four games and could continue to be a solid statistical play against WAC opponents.  He has yet to reach the end zone, however.

New Mexico State running back Seth Smith got the bulk of the carries in Saturday's spring practice session. According to Teddy Feinberg of the Las Cruces Sun-News, Smith was a highly regarded recruit who missed last season due to grade issues.

Smith will battle leading returner Marquell Colston for carries this year. The NMSU running back spot could see a big boost in production this year as run-n-shoot guru Hal Mumme has been replaced by DeWayne Walker.
