Baylor QB Nick Florence will not pursue a career in the NFL.
"I've decided to hang up my cleats and finish my master’s in December," Florence said. "My wife and I have spent the last one and a half months talking about it, and it all came down to what we wanted in life, and it didn't include playing football." It is an interesting choice, since far worse players have retired before entering the NFL, but it is refreshing to see this kind of life choice made prior to the draft. Fri, Feb 8, 2013 12:01:00 PM

Baylor senior QB Nick Florence completed 10-of-18 attempts for 188 yards and two touchdowns against UCLA.

Florence was on fire early on but was not needed as Baylor took a large lead. Sure, Florence lacks ideal height and experience working through progressions, but he has great touch on vertical throws and isn't afraid to test those alleys in coverages.

True freshman Nick Florence could get the start at quarterback for Baylor with Robert Griffin (knee) out and backup Blake Szymanski (shoulder) also ailing.

Florence threw for 3045 yards and rushed for 488 during his senior year for Galand High School in Garland, Texas.  Impressive numbers.  It will be interesting to see what he can do against Kent State this weekend.
