In his final game with Stanford, Andrew Luck threw for 347 yards and 2 touchdowns. The effort came in a 41-38 overtime to Oklahoma State in the Fiesta Bowl.

Stanford's Andrew Luck won the Maxwell Award as the nation's best all-around player.

Though he did not take the award for the best quarterback, Luck was able to take home some hardware as the best player in the country. That sentiment was echoed earlier today when Luck was awarded the Walter Camp best overall player award as well. The highly buzzed-about junior led the Cardinal to an 11-1 season behind his 3,170 yards and 35 touchdowns this year. The award-winning signal caller will not defend his title next year, as he has stated he will turn pro in time for next year's draft.

According the team's official website, Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck has the won the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award.

Luck, who is one of five Heisman finalists, guided Stanford to an 11-1 regular season and a Fiesta Bowl date with Oklahoma State. On the field, the senior has thrown for 3,170 yards and 35 touchdowns. Academics also comes into play with the Golden Arm Award and Luck is a member of Pac-12 All-Academic First Team.

Andrew Luck threw for 233 yards and 4 touchdowns in a 28-14 win over visiting Notre Dame.

Luck threw at least 2 touchdown passes in all 12 regular-season games and, dating to last season, extended that streak to 15 games. He threw four TD passes two other times this year and has 35 on the season. Luck also went over 3,000 yards passing on the year and 9,000 for his career.

Luck was 20-30 for 206 yards and 3/1. Those are not numbers that come close to sealing a Heisman, but they were solid. After all, Luck had 3 TD passes in a 25-point win. It was the sixth time this season Luck has thrown at least 3 TD passes in a game and he has 26 on the season -- with only 5 INTs.

Luck, who was 29-of-40 with 3 TDs and 1 INT at USC, has thrown for 2,218 yards and 23 TD passes with only 4 INTs this season. He has completed 71.9 percent of his passes, which outpaces his 70.7 of 2010. Only twice in eight games this season has he completed less than 65 percent of his passes with a season-low of 63.9 on Oct. 15 at Washington State. The senior has the fifth-best rating in the nation behind Russell Wilson, Case Keenum, Robert Griffin III and Kellen Moore.

It was the fourth time this season that Luck threw at least 3 TD passes and he has 18 on the year against only 3 INTs. Saturday night also marked Luck’s third 300-yard game of the season.

Perhaps most impressive about Luck’s performance in Palo Alto on Saturday was the distribution. No receiver caught more than four passes and 11 different players had at least one reception. Through five game, Luck has 1,383 yards passing and 14 TDs with only two picks.

Luck had his moment in the sun as a receiver and the video clip of his reception created quite a buzz. Can you imagine the buzz if the Heisman candidate got hurt?

Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck totaled 361 yards to lead the Cardinal over Arizona.

Luck’s Heisman campaign remains on schedule after a thorough effort in the desert. He was 20-of-31 for 325 yards with 2 TDs against the Wildcats. Whether he was finding an open receiver or running for a first down, Luck's scrambling ability came into play at key times. He enters an open week having completed 67 percent of his pass with 8 TDs and only one pick.

The Cardinal will not be as good as 2010, however there's little reason to expect a significant drop-off from Mr. Luck, a superstar certain to be the Sam Bradford of the 2012 NFL Draft.

New Stanford offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton tells the San Jose Mercury News that the Cardinal will "at the end of the day get off the bus running power." Translated this means that they won't wing it 50 times a game just because all-Everything quarterback Andrew Luck has decided to return for his senior season.

While the staff wants to stick with what has worked under Jim Harbaugh, it would be reasonable to expect an increase in passing attempts for Luck in 2011. They'll want to win with the ball in the hands of their best player.

After Jim Harbaugh left The Farm for the Frisco Bay, offensive coordinator David Shaw has been named the new head coach for Stanford.

Shaw made the offensive machine go and should keep the momentum going for the Cardinal.

Former Oregon coach Mike Bellotti tells The Mercury News that Stanford should go after Boise coach Chris Peterson to fill its vacancy, however if The Cardinal should give him a buzz about the gig, he'll pick it up before it goes to voicemail.

Bellotti would be an interesting choice, however our guess would be that Stanford goes with a younger assistant to keep what Jim Harbaugh started moving in the right direction.

Reports are starting to come out that Stanford coach Jim Harbaugh has accepted a deal to be the Miami Dolphins' next head coach.

Nothing has been confirmed yet, but there are signs that Harbaugh is close to leaving Stanford. It will be interesting to see if quarterback Andrew Luck changes his mind about returning for his senior year if Harbaugh leaves.
