Cardinals selected Clemson RB Andre Ellington with the No. 187 overall pick.
Ellington (5-foot-9 1/4, 199) rushed 621 times for 3,436 yards (5.53 YPC) and 33 touchdowns at Clemson. He made 59 career receptions. A dynamic perimeter runner with exciting acceleration, Ellington makes quick cuts and displays smooth, rapid-fire foot movement. He ran a 4.51 at the Tigers' Pro Day and projects as a dangerous in-space NFL back. The Cardinals have added Rashard Mendenhall in free agency and Stepfan Taylor early in the draft, but watch Ellington get touches this season. Sat, Apr 27, 2013 04:43:00 PM

Clemson RB Andre Ellington will play in the Senior Bowl.

It will be interesting to see how Ellington fairs, since he projects best in a slanting or zone blocking running scheme. He may be lean, but Ellington has solid balance and his burst through lanes allows for big plays to be made. He is one of our top senior running backs.

Clemson will play LSU in the Chick-fil-A Bowl on December 31.

This game is loaded with prospects to take note of. First, it will be Clemson running back Andre Ellington's final collegiate game and he projects as an excellent zone blocking, backside cut runner. LSU junior Kevin Minter is one of the more under-publicized linebackers in the country. Clemson junior quarterback Tajh Boyd has possibly improved more than any other prospect in the country, and he'll have to fight off pressure from the LSU front four.

Clemson senior RB Andre Ellington appears "good to go" for Saturday's game against Maryland after suffering a hamstring injury last week.

Ellington left last weekend's Duke game after just one play, tweaking his hamstring on a 26 yard run. He remains our top senior running back due to his backside vision and prowess, one cut running style.

Clemson senior RB Andre Ellington converted 15 carries for 61 yards Thursday night against Wake Forest.

Ellington added two receptions for five yards. The senior running back wasn't needed against the Demon Deacons as the Tigers' passing game was hitting on all cylinders. We still consider Ellington the top senior running back.

Clemson senior RB Andre Ellington rushed for 96 yards and one touchdown, on 5.1 yards per carry, Saturday against Virginia Tech.

Once again, Ellington displayed a nice ability to stay skinny while being patient and cutting off blockers for big gains. We continue to rank him as the top senior running back.

Clemson senior RB Andre Ellington accounted for 82 rushing yards on 24 carries, along with 47 receiving yards on two catches, during Saturday's game against Georgia Tech.

Ellington failed to break a big play out on the ground, but took one swing pass 40 yards and displayed his trademarked burst and downfield weaving ability for the near score. He remains our top senior running back.

Clemson senior RB Andre Ellington rushed for 132 yards on 25 carries, including one touchdown, in Saturday's win over Boston College.

Ellington did seal the game with a nice 46 yard run, starting off the right tackle before breaking it left while running through defenders, so his stat line could have looked different without it. Still, we consider Ellington as the top senior back at this time due to his balance and burst upfield.

Clemson senior RB Andre Ellington was held in check against Ball State, rushing for only 41 yards but he did score two touchdowns.

Ellington was held to 3.2 yards per carry, compared to 8.9 last week versus Auburn, and appeared to be the focus of the Ball State defense. We consider Ellington as one of the top two senior runners in the country and expect big numbers this season.

Clemson senior RB Andre Ellington sliced through the Auburn defense on Saturday, running for 231 yards and averaging 8.9 per carry.

Despite his lean frame, Ellington possesses excellent balance to break arm tackles and does not easily go down on first contact. A perfect projection to a heavy zone blocking scheme, Ellington makes the most of the sliver of space given to him and is a threat to take it the distance on every run. The Clemson offensive line is a weak spot, but Ellington will continue to produce and remains our second ranked senior running back.

Fellow Clemson teammate Dalton Freeman believes senior RB Andre Ellington will have his best season as a Tiger in 2012.

"A healthy Andre Ellington is something we've been waiting to see for a long time... so we are really excited about that," Freeman said. Ellington missed extended time in two games last season and five in 2010, but managed to produce close to 1,200 yards on 5.3 yards per carry in 2011. His one cut zone blocking style is paired with excellent straight-line speed and makes Ellington one of the top senior backs in the country.

SI's Tony Pauline projects Clemson senior RB Andre Ellington as a third-round prospect.

Pauline credits Ellington for his explosive, double cut running style as a positive and claims he has a "variety of ball carrying skills". Ellington may be lean at 5'10/190 pounds but he certainly is not afraid to stay between the tackles and rarely stretches runs too wide. For a zone-heavy blocking team, Ellington could have some real juice with his decisive cuts and break-away speed. He is currently our No. 3 senior running back.

CBS Sports draft analyst Dane Brugler considers RB Andre Ellington Clemson's top draft-eligible prospect.

Brugler singles out Ellington's explosive lateral burst in short areas and improved vision to avoid tacklers. After eclipsing 1,100 yards and 11 touchdowns last season, Ellington underwent minor ankle surgery in April but is not expected to miss any time. He is not going to break a large amount of tackles, but Ellington could excel in a one cut, zone heavy blocking scheme. His breakaway speed is outstanding.

Clemson running back Andre Ellington underwent minor ankle surgery Thursday and should be good to go for the fall.

The procedure will keep Ellington out of the spring game. The ankle bothered him last season when he ran for 1,178 yards (5.3) and 11 touchdowns.

Running back Andre Ellington will return to Clemson for his senior season.

Had Ellington entered the NFL draft, he would likely have been at best a mid-round pick. Hobbled at times with an ankle sprain that forced him to miss one game, Ellington still had an outstanding 2011 season rushing for 1,178 yards (5.3 ypc) and 11 touchdowns. Ellington has 2,355 career rushing yards with 25 TDs.
