Illinois’ A.J. Jenkins caught 77- and 67-yard touchdown passes and totaled 182 yards receiving in a win over Indiana.
Both of Jenkins’ touchdown receptions came in the opening half with the second, a 67-yarder late in the second quarter, providing a little breathing room (27-13) in what would be 41-20 win for the Fighting Illini. Jenkins, who went over 100 yards for the fourth time – he had a school-record 268 yards last week against Northwestern -- has caught at least six passes in five of six games. He now has 815 receiving yards on the season. Sat, Oct 8, 2011 05:49:00 PM

Illinois receiver A.J. Jenkins is talking about, well, not talking as much and allowing his play to speak volumes.

If you are not familiar with Jenkins, whether he is talking or not, you might want to check how he does each week. The senior set a school record with 268 yards receiving on 12 receptions in last week’s win against Northwestern. It was the third time he broke the century mark this season and his 633 yards are second nationally to USC’s Robert Woods. The Fighting Illni are at Indiana on Saturday and, last season, Jenkins was just 3-17 against the Hoosiers.

Illinois WR A.J. Jenkins had 12 catches for a school-record 268 yards and three touchdowns in an 18-point come-from-behind win over Northwestern.

The Illini relied exclusively on the Scheelhaase-to-Jenkins connection in the second half, where the offense scored on four of six possessions. Jenkins has been inconsistent this season but this was by far his best game under coordinator Paul Petrino. His 663 yards currently pace the NCAA in receiving. Illinois (4-0) travels to Indiana in Week 6.

After a promising 2010, Fighting Illini senior receiver A.J. Jenkins is out to break the 1,000-yard barrier this season.

It’s hard to blame Jenkins for his optimism. Though Illinois has had only one receiver reach 1,000 yards (Arrelious Benn '08) in the last eight seasons, a strong cast of returning starters on offense is grounds for high expectations in Champaign. Quarterback Nathan Scheelhaase and an experienced line return in what could be a very exciting offense under coordinator Paul Petrino. Statistically, that could mean bigger and better for Jenkins, who led Fighting Illini pass catchers with 746 yards a year ago.

Illinois wide receiver A.J. Jenkins caught six passes for 137 yards and a touchdown against Minnesota on Saturday.

Jenkins has a boat load of talent and is one to keep an eye on for 2011 in Big Ten leagues, and possibly nationally.

Illinois wide receiver A.J. Jenkins caught five balls for 114 yards and a score in the win over Southern Illinois.

There will not be enough passing yards for many Illini wide receivers to emerge as fantasy factors, though if Jenkins can clearly establish himself as the guy then he becomes a very nice Big Ten option.

Playing in just his second game of the 2008 season, freshman wide receiver A.J. Jenkins showed he could be a gamebreaker at his position, today taking a total of three receptions for 117 yards and two touchdowns against the Minnesota Golden Gophers.

We've been waiting for a secondary receiver to develop at Illinois, considering all the throwing that Juice Williams has done under center over the last few weeks; could Jenkins be the answer? Defensive secondaries are certain to focus their attention on sophomore standout, Arrelious Benn, opening the door for someone like Jenkins to come in and put up some solid numbers as a pass catcher.
