Illinois running back Jason Ford, the team’s leading rusher, is ineligible (academics) for the Dec. 31 Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl against UCLA.
As if the Fighting Illini had not accumulated enough low grades with a six-game losing streak and the firing of coach Ron Zook, Ford’s effort -- or lack thereof -- in the classroom will render him sidelined for what would have been the final game of his college career. Ford had 600 yards (3.9 ypc) and 7 touchdowns. He had a season-high 100 yards at Penn State on Oct. 29. Mon, Dec 26, 2011 09:22:00 PM

Illinois running back Jason Ford hopes another big effort at Indiana can shed his slow start.

It's been tough going for the senior, averaging only 3.2 yards per carry. Bloomington was the site of the biggest game of his career when he rushed for 172 yards as a freshman in 2008. Coach Ron Zook has a deep backfield and Ford wants to stand out Saturday.

Illinois running back Jason Ford is working hard to fill the spikes of Mikel Leshoure but will first have to stay out of trouble.  Ford was arrested on Sunday for driving on a suspended license.  Head coach Ron Zook says that the issue will be handled internally.

Ford has big expectations on him and at this point has not begun to fulfill them.

Illinois running back Jason Ford knows he has only one year left to be the feature back for the Illini so he has worked hard to slim down.  Ford hopes to be around 225 by the fall so he can break more long runs much like Mikel Leshoure and Rashard Mendenhall before him.

Ford has all the makings to be yet another one year wonder for the Fighting Illini and is certainly worth a mid-round selection.

Apparently Illinois running back Jason Ford is not happy playing second fiddle to Mikel LeShoure. On Monday Ford tweeted: "Givin up on EVERYTHING! Just want to go home to my daughter!'' and "Tired of workin hard and not getting nothin out of it! Bout to say (to heck with) it.''

Coach Ron Zook says he's talked to Ford and all is good. Hmmmmm, doesn't sound like all is well to me.

After 172 yards and three scores last week, bruising freshman running back Jason Ford established himself as threat for the Illini. The job is not quite his yet, however, speedback Daniel Dufrene is still a threat to see carries.

Depending on your options, it might be a little early to thrust Ford in your starting lineup. At minimum he is one to stash on your roster and see what happens this week at Wisconsin.
