ESPN's Jake Trotter reports that former Kansas State QB Collin Klein will join the Wildcats' staff as an assistant coach.
Home is where the heart is. Not only did Klein play quarterback under HC Bill Sneider, he was previously on Kansas State's staff from 2014-2015. At the time, he served as assistant director of recruiting, defensive quality control coach and graduate assistant. He then moved on to Northern Illinois for the 2016 campaign. With the Huskies, he acted as QB coach. During his playing career, Klein finished third in Heisman voting behind Johnny Manziel and Manti T'eo in 2012. Sun, Feb 12, 2017 01:07:00 PM

Texans signed Kansas State QB Collin Klein.

Klein was a run-first quarterback at K-State, throwing just 30 career touchdown passes. With an awkward, unnatural throwing motion and little velocity, Klein was asked to work out as a tight end at the Combine, but declined. He showed enough physicality in college that he could perhaps be tried at linebacker or safety, although Klein has 4.7-4.8 speed. The odds are against Klein having a long NFL career.

Kansas State QB Collin Klein will not work out at TE at the Combine despite teams requesting he do so.

Klein will throw just like the other attending quarterbacks. This might signal the inevitable position switch in Klein's future, but he has prepared for the event as a passer and will finish it as one.

Former NFL scout Bryan Broaddus has heard at least one team is hoping to workout Kansas State QB Collin Klein as a TE.

"He will do position drills in front of the combine," Broaddus tweeted. Klein will be among the quarterbacks throwing to receivers during group drills, but we do not expect him to impress. He certainly did not while attending the East-West Shrine week.

Kansas State QB Collin Klein will throw at the NFL Combine.

Klein has been working with Jake Plummer in preparation for the event, but his motion and placement needs plenty of work. The Heisman trophy finalist did not help himself during the East-West Shrine week and a position switch could be in his future.

Kansas State QB Collin Klein is preparing for the Combine by working with former NFL QB Jake Plummer.

"I've taken away a lot from Jake; it's hard to pick one," Klein said. "His approach to the game. He has a great perspective." His coaches went on to add that they are working with Klein's arm strength, trunk stability, and a lot of repetitions with the three-, five- and seven-step drops. He will attend the Combine as a quarterback.

Kansas State QB Collin Klein measured 6-foot-4 5/8 and 218 pounds at this week's East-West Shrine weigh-in.

Klein has 9 1/4-inch hands and a 77-inch wingspan. A late-round pick to undrafted free agent prospect, Klein has struggled throughout the practice week and has a bleak outlook for the NFL game. Klein could wind up in the CFL.

Although Kansas State QB Collin Klein has noticeably struggled at East-West Shrine practices, Sirius XM Radio's Adam Caplan suggests that increased usage of option offenses in the NFL could help Klein's chances of being drafted.

"Collin Klein struggles with his mechanics," Caplan observed. "He holds onto the ball too long. He holds it high. He's got a high release and a release where he waits a second and throws it. He's gonna struggle. Now, he does run the option very well and ... with the NFL moving toward spread looks, Collin Klein could get drafted late just because he can run the option."

According to SI's Tony Pauline, Kansas State QB Collin Klein is "really struggling" as a passer early at East-West Shrine practices.

It's only a practice and a half in, and this isn't the first we've heard of Klein scuffling in the all-star game practices. Per Pauline, Klein "pushes the ball" and has appeared "indecisive" in 7-on-7 drills. Generally not an effective thrower of the football, Klein is a long shot for an extensive pro career unless he finds another way to make an impact. He won't be a full-time NFL quarterback.

The East-West Shrine Game announced Kansas State senior QB Collin Klein will be attending their event.

Klein will almost certainly go through practice as a quarterback due to the event's lack of numbers at the position. This is obviously a big draw, but it will be interesting to see if Klein succeeds in practice. The two other quarterbacks on the East roster include Louisiana Tech's Colby Cameron and Nathan Stanley from Southeastern Louisiana.

Kansas State senior QB Collin Klein completed 17-of-32 attempts for 151 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions against Oregon.

Klein's best throws came on crossing routes, which he consistently converted early in the game. Along with not converting some third or fourth and short situations, Klein's lone real interception occurred on an underthrown downfield route. He may attend a postseason all star game as a quarterback, but his future may not be at that position.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Kansas State QB Collin Klein will not be invited to the Senior Bowl.

This may appear to be an outrage, but from a prospects standpoint there are a number of senior quarterbacks more coveted than Klein. Some may suggest Klein should get an invitation at a position outside of quarterback, but high level all star games are not the place to make that transition, unless your name is Denard Robinson. Schefter adds that Scouts are "concerned about (Klein's) throwing motion and passing abilities."

One NFL Scout told the NFL Network's Albert Breer that Kansas State senior QB Collin Klein "is what he is... he's not a passer."

The same scout added, "he's benefiting from playing in an awful conference for defense. If anything, he's come back down to Earth since the earlier part of the season." Klein lacks the same explosiveness and shorter throwing motion that Colin Kaepernick possesses, but he could be utilized in a similar "closer" role as the one Kaepernick handled earlier in the season.

Quarterback guru George Whitfield believes that Colin Kaepernick's NFL success should "open minds" to Kansas State senior QB Collin Klein.

The two offer different skill sets, with Kaepernick possessing quicker movements and a stronger arm with a short motion. Klein's best assets on the ground are his patience and strength when hitting the line of scrimmage. Kaepernick has altered his throwing motion a bit, and although Klein has definitely improved as a downfield passer, his elongated release will turn some off.

A report from Yahoo's Dan Wetzel says that Kansas State senior QB Collin Klein was removed from Saturday's game against Oklahoma State due to a possible concussion.

Per Wetzel, Klein "didn’t know he just scored (a) touchdown" while ont he sideline, so a concussion is certainly possible. By all accounts, Klein is expected to practice on a regular schedule and suit up this weekend against TCU, but the school has yet to conclude as much.
