According to ESPN, sources say that Connecticut head coach Randy Edsall has been hired by Maryland to be their next head football coach.
If this is indeed true, this is a great move for the Terps as Edsall turned around a lowly UConn program and has a strong base to start with in the Terrapins. Sun, Jan 2, 2011 05:30:00 PM

Maryland running back Davin Meggett ran 16 times for 94 yards and a touchdown against Wake Forest.

His best outing since opening week against Navy, and his first touchdown in nearly a month.  Don't get too excited as the Deacons couldn't stop anyone today.  He'll continue to share carries with Da'Rel Scott until Scott graduates.

Maryland running back Davin Meggett "led" the Terps with 39 yards on 15 carries against Boston College.

Da'Rel Scott had just 19 yards on nine carries while quarterback Danny O'Brien chucked it 39 times.  An odd lack of balance for Maryland, but it's tough to bench any of the Turtles next week against a bad Wake Forest defense.

Maryland offensive coordinator James Franklin said running backs Davin Meggett, Gary Douglas, D.J. Adams and possibly Caleb Porzel could all see time this week against Wake Forest.

Meggett has the most potential of the group.  However, Maryland is only averaging  102 yards per game on the ground.  Franklin attributes this low number to offensive line woes.

Maryland offensive coordinator James Franklin told the Baltimore Sun that sophomore running back Davin Meggett has "improved as much as anybody" and he's another #1 running back to go along with Da'Rel Scott.

Consider Meggett's move up the Maryland depth chart comparable to Zach Brown's move on John Clay at Wisconsin.  Both speedsters have gained a great deal of ground on presumed incumbents, and now Meggett becomes a bigger fantasy factor while Scott takes a hit.
