USF senior QB B.J. Daniels underwent successful left ankle surgery Saturday.

Daniels will miss the rest of the regular season, but beyond that his timetable is unknown. The senior does not have prototypical size or quarterback qualities for the NFL, but he may get a look during training camp.

South Florida senior QB B.J. Daniels suffered a broken ankle, likely ending his final collegiate season.

Matt Floyd will take over as the starter. Daniels is one of those players that appeared to be in college football forever, but this injury likely ends his time at this level of football. He finishes his career with over 8,000 passing yards and 52 passing touchdowns.

Heading into his fifth season with the Bulls, B.J. Daniels continues to grow and adjust as a quarterback.

Unlike earlier in his career with USF, Daniels has had one coordinator and one system with which to work the last couple of years. That person, Todd Fitch has noticed Daniels’ growth and maturation especially when it comes to decision making. In his final season, Daniels wants the Bulls to work toward and focused on winning a Big East title.

With his throwing shoulder responding nicely in warm-ups, USF quarterback B.J. Daniels started and played the whole game. The junior was 21-of-44 for 226 yards and 1/1 with a TD run in a 30-27 loss to visiting West Virginia.

A field goal on the final play of the game dropped Daniels and the Bulls to 5-7 and snapped a streak of six straight bowl appearances. Daniels’ fumble in WVU territory set up the winning drive. That was most unfortunate on a night when his gutsy effort after missing a game-and-a-half helped the Bulls build a 27-20 fourth-quarter lead. On the season, the junior threw for 2,604 yards and 13/7 while rushing for 601 yards and 5 TDs. He entered the game 16th nationally in total offense.

USF quarterback B.J. Daniels, who missed the last game plus one half of another with a shoulder injury, will likely be evaluated during pregame warm-ups before tonight’s game against visiting West Virginia.

Daniels hurt his throwing shoulder against Miami two weeks ago and missed the second half of that game as well as last week’s contest with Louisville. If he is not able to go, sophomore Bobby Eveld will make his second straight start.

USF quarterback B.J. Daniels (shoulder) is not sure if he will be able to play Thursday night against West Virginia.

The 5-6 Bulls have gone to six straight bowl games and about their only shot of extending that streak is if Daniels can play. Daniels, who is 16th nationally with an average of 296 total yards per game, does not sound overly convincing in the video that is on the other side of the link below. After all, it is a short week. The junior injured his shoulder against Miami on Nov. 12. Bobby Eveld completed that game and started last week's loss to Louisville.

USF quarterback B.J. Daniels (shoulder) is questionable for Friday night’s game in Tampa against Louisville.

The Bulls finish the season with two home games against Big East opponents: Louisville on Friday night and West Virginia next Thursday. There may be a bowl game in their future, but at 5-5, USF is not yet eligible. Their fate could rest in large part on the shoulders (pardon the pun) of sophomore Bobby Eveld, who took over after Daniels was injured last week against Miami. Daniels, so strong during a 4-0 start, is 16th nationally in total offense with an average of 295 yards per game. Only twice since that perfect start has he topped that average.

USF quarterback B.J. Daniels threw for 254 yards and ran for 117 in a 37-17 win at Syracuse on Friday night.

The Bulls snapped a four-game losing streak for their first conference win. After completing 14-of-34 passes in an OT loss at Rutgers last week, Daniels turned the tables going 23-of-34 against the Orange. After throwing at least one INT the past three weeks, the junior did not throw one Friday. Daniels' 21 rushing attempts marked a season high and his 117 yards were his second-most.

USF quarterback B.J. Daniels totaled 463 yards, including a career-high 409 through the air in a 37-34 home loss to Cincinnati.

Daniels also threw 3 TD passes without a pick and has thrown only 3 INTs in 234 attempts this season. On the ground, the junior was 15-54 and he has more than 2,200 total yards this season in seven games.

South Florida quarterback B.J. Daniels looked like his former self against Clemson as he accounted for three touchdowns in a close win.  Daniels threw for 189 yards, two touchdowns, and a pick while also rushing for 22 yards and another score.

Skip Holtz has a dynamic player in Daniels and after a rough start, it appears he is ready to be unleashed for next year.

South Florida quarterback B.J. Daniels (thigh bruise) is listed as questionable for Saturday's game against Connecticut on Saturday.

Daniels has been dealing with the injury since the Louisville game. Bobby Eveld will get the start if Daniels is unable to play.

South Florida quarterback B.J. Daniels threw for two scores and ran for two more against Cincinnati on Friday. He finished with 286 yards passing and 35 yards rushing.

Daniels had been struggling prior to facing Cincy's sluggish defense. Let's hope this performance is enough to shake him out of his mini-slump.

South Florida quarterback B.J. Daniels threw three interceptions en route to a 20-6 defeat at West Virginia.

Daniels managed only 119 yards through the air and only four on the ground. It's been a disappointing season for the junior under first-year coach Skip Holtz.
