Utah State QB Chuckie Keeton is seeing late interest from the Jets, Vikings and Cardinals.
The Houston Chronicle's Aaron Wilson was on this one. Earlier, he had also relayed that the Texans, Rams, Falcons, Broncos and Raiders were showing interest in Keeton. Injuries --particularly knee injuries -- ravaged him throughout his collegiate career. He had appeared in just 17 games since the start of the 2013 season. Outside of a nice set of wheels, it is difficult to see much that is NFL-ready in his game. Apr 26 - 8:28 PM

Utah State QB Chuckie Keeton has drawn interest from the Houston Texans, Los Angeles Rams, Atlanta Falcons, Denver Broncos and Oakland Raiders.

Hat tip to Aaron Wilson for the dispatch. Keeton, a collegiate star lacking in NFL QB tools, ran the 40-yard dash in 4.65 seconds at his Pro Day. "Chuckie is a phenomenal young man who has the character, drive and energy to be successful at anything he sets his mind to," Utah State coach Matt Wells said. "One of Chuckie‘s many ideal traits is his ability to overcome adversity. He had some setbacks with knee injuries. Despite his overwhelming odds, he rose to the challenge." Keeton has torn multiple major knee surgeries in his recent past.

Utah State senior QB Chuckie Keeton (knee) is expected to start on Tuesday against Akron in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl.

Keeton's collegiate career was derailed by a serious of knee injuries that limited him to only 15 games over the last three seasons. Even so, he's Utah State's all-time leader in touchdown passes and completion percentage and will finish second in total yards, passing yards and completions. "We ushered in a new [era at] Utah State," Keeton said. "… I've always been told stories of what it used to be like. It sounded like a horror story compared to what it is now. And my thing is, yeah, it's my senior year. But I don't want this thing to go back to that spot. That's been my mentality the whole year — passing down some knowledge and advice — to prevent that from ever happening again." Expect sophomore QB Kent Myers to rotate in for Keeton. The offense has been more efficient with Myers on the field this year.

Utah State head coach Matt Wells announced that senior QB Chuckie Keeton will miss the next four to six weeks with a sprained knee.

Moving forward, the Aggies will go with sophomore QB Kent Myers as their starter versus Colorado State, and Myers could remain the starter. Keeton, has had his share of injuries over the years, suffering a torn ACL in October of 2013. Keeton only lasted 3 games in 2014, before the Aggies shut him down for the remainder of the season, after hurting the same knee. Keeton has only played 12 games since 2012.

Utah State senior QB Chuckie Keeton completed 16 of 33 attempts for 110 yards and an interception in the school's 12-9 win over Southern Utah.

He only added seven rushing yards. Keeton amassed a 3.33 yards per attempt average, which is dreadful. The quarterback suffered a torn ACL in October of 2013 and has not looked the same since. Something was off in the early portions of last season, and Keeton was held out for the remainder of 2014.

Utah State senior QB Chuckie Keeton is "one of the beat dual-threats in the country, and now it's a matter of rebounding staying healthy -- because he did not look 100 percent between injuries when he played early last season," writes Sports on Earth's Matt Brown.

Keeton suffered a torn ACL in his left knee in October 2013, wiping out the rest of his season. "Keeton has been touted every preseason the last few years, only to run into unfortunate injury trouble," Brown wrote. "After getting a redshirt, he'll return and attempt to recapture past magic for a Utah State team that has become the best non-Boise State program in the Mountain West." The draft expert ranks Keeton as the No. 22 signal-caller in the land. In 31 collegiate games, Keeton has thrown 58 touchdown passes and rushed for 1,234 yards and 15 touchdowns.

Utah State senior QB Chuckie Keeton "has proved that he is one of the nation's most exciting dual-threat quarterbacks" when healthy, notes NFL Media.

The "when healthy" qualifier is important, here. Keeton suffered a torn ACL in his left knee in October 2013, wiping out the rest of his season. Last year, he hurt the same knee in Week 3 and never returned. "If he is healthy this fall, he should be one of the nation's best quarterbacks," wrote College Football 24/7 writer Mike Huguenin. In 31 collegiate games, Keeton has thrown 58 touchdown passes and rushed for 1,234 yards and 15 touchdowns.

Utah State senior QB Chuckie Keeton received a medical redshirt for the 2014 season and will return with one more year of eligibility in 2015.

On Oct. 1 it was announced Keeton would be held out for the remainder of the season after not looking like his old self once returning from a 2013 torn ACL and MCL. Who knows if Keeton will regain that same movement ability he once displayed, along with throwing skills, but we are excited to see one more season.

Utah State senior QB Chuckie Keeton will likely be held out for the remainder of the season.

"Chuckie's health is our top priority and he has not been cleared to play by our medical staff," head coach Matt Wells said. "We will continue to monitor his progress throughout the fall, but given his current condition it is unlikely that he will play in any games in the foreseeable future." Keeton was obviously not 100 percent healthy this season after tearing the ACL and MCL in his left knee last year, and seemed to favor the leg after nearly every hit. A BYU player stated earlier in the week that he had heard Keeton would be given a medical redshirt, so leave that possibility open.

Utah State HC Matt Wells was surprised by the "report" BYU DL Remington Peck made regarding a possible medical redshirt for senior QB Chuckie Keeton.

"BYU said that?!," Wells said when asked about the statement. "We’ll get him to practice today and we’ll see what is going on," the head coach said of Keeton. The quarterback has not played in a game and a half, and has not looked the same this season after tearing his ACL last year. It is worth noting that Wells did not outright deny the report, only stating Keeton will be evaluated after practice.

BYU DL Remington Peck told BYU Sports Nation that Utah State senior QB Chuckie Keeton will be taking a medical redshirt this season.

Utah State has not made a statement on the matter. Obviously the source is not exactly certified, but many of the players that go to schools in Utah have close relationships. Keeton missed last season after tearing his ACL and did not look the same in 2014 while seeing action in three games. Again, the report has not been confirmed, but the decision would not surprise us.

Utah State senior QB Chuckie Keeton will miss Saturday's game against Arkansas State.

Keeton re-injured his left knee against Wake Forest and was forced out of the second half. Head coach Matt Wells did say Keeton did not re-tear his ACL, but the goal is not to rush him along. "Chuckie is fine from a health standpoint," Wells declared. "The ACL is all intact; everything's good. But it's banged up, guys, and that's the bottom line." Utah State has a bye following this matchup, so Keeton will be evaluated at that time. He does not look like the same player this season.

Utah State senior QB Chuckie Keeton re-injured his left knee and was forced out of the second half of the school's 36-24 win over Wake Forest.

Keeton tore ligaments in the same knee last year. He was on crutches for a period of time on the sideline but tossed them aside later on. Keeton showed plenty of ability prior to the injury last year, but he has looked sluggish since. Utah State's staff will know more about the injury on Sunday.

Utah State senior QB Chuckie Keeton's "ball placement was erratic and the speed of Tennessee's defense appeared too much at times" which could hurt Keeton's draft stock, according to CBS Sports' Dane Brugler.

"His arm was lively with a snap release and enough zip to deliver the ball to all levels of the field, but his ball placement was erratic and the speed of Tennessee's defense appeared too much at times," Brugler wrote. The 6-foot-1, 200 pound Keeton played in six games last season, as he tore his ACL and MCL in his left knee. While Brugler believes Keeton "will almost surely improve down the stretch with more reps" he missed an opportunity to "impress scouts against a SEC defense in a hostile environment." Keeton completed 18 of 35 of his passes for 144 yards, with one touchdown and two interceptions, adding in 12 yards rushing on eight carries.

NFL scouts have been "intrigued" by Utah State senior QB Chuckie Keeton, according to CBS Sports' Dane Brugler.

"Keeton isn't physically imposing with a below average build and little growth potential, but most of the other boxes receive checks with a strong arm, quick feet and the unrelenting attitude needed for the quarterback position. His fiery, competitive on-field demeanor coupled with his up-beat, positive character off the field will be a hit during NFL interviews," Brugler wrote. The 6-foot-1, 200 pound Keeton only managed to play in six games in 2013, tearing his ACL and MCL in his left knee. Before getting injured, he completed almost 70 percent of his passes with an 18/2 TD/INT ratio. As of now, the coaching staff still doesn't know when Keeton will be ready to go, as he missed all of spring practice. The Aggies are crossing their fingers to have their play maker under center for the season opener.
