Cowboys selected Oklahoma State RB Joseph Randle with the No. 151 overall pick.
Randle (6-foot, 204) was the Cowboys' two-year feature back, rushing 564 times for 3,085 career yards (5.47 YPC) and 40 touchdowns. He added 108 receptions. Despite the stats -- predecessor Keith Toston had them too and went undrafted -- Randle is a stiff, upright, lunging runner who benefited from Mike Gundy's wide-open spread offense. He's also a whiffer in pass pro. Randle ran 4.63 at the Combine with a 1.61 ten-yard split. We don't see him as a future NFL starter, and he's likely to struggle if forced into the lineup. Randle will compete with Phillip Tanner and Lance Dunbar for backup duties in Dallas. Sat, Apr 27, 2013 02:56:00 PM

Oklahoma State RB Joseph Randle is visiting the Cowboys on Tuesday.

Randle made the most of gaping holes while in college, showing nice speed on route to big gains. He added a power element to his game to finish off runs, but we worry about Randle's extra steps when making cuts upfield. He could be selected in the third-round, but the early third day is a safe bet.

Oklahoma State junior RB Joseph Randle told The Oklahoman he will declare for the 2013 NFL Draft.

According to The Oklahoman, Randle said in a direct message on Twitter he had "made my decision not to come back." The junior added a power element to his game this season, to go along with nice lateral and straight-line speed. Expect the Cowboy to be selected on the Draft's second day. Rising senior Jeremy Smith will likely take on lead ball carrier duties.

Randle's longest carry went for 26 yards and added 17 receiving yards on three receptions. The junior has not committed on staying or leaving after this season, but did mention that a primary goal is to graduate from college. Along with his speed, Randle has added a power element this year.

Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy stated that junior RB Joseph Randle has been "the most pleasant surprise from a leadership standpoint," in recent weeks.

"I thought he ran as hard Saturday as he has since the Texas game," Gundy said. "But the last couple of months, his leadership qualities have been really good and kind of set the bar for who we are." It is still unclear whether or not Randle will return to Stillwater next season or depart for the NFL.

Oklahoma State junior RB Joseph Randle said he does not want to leave school before graduating and is on pace to do so next December.

"I don't want to leave here without nothing," said Randle, referring to his degree. "That's something I always think about." This does not mean Randle has made his final decision, so expect to hear his name come up quite often from now until the declaration deadline. He did recently switch majors from engineering to economics, allowing Randle to graduate sooner.

Oklahoma State junior RB Joseph Randle rushed for 151 yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries Saturday against Iowa State.

Randle added three catches for 23 yards. The junior showed off his vision and cutting while working between the tackles. Randle has had a few down weeks, but when he plays well the junior is on fire. We really like how the Cowboy has added a power element to his game.

CBS Sports' Dane Brugler considers Oklahoma State junior Joseph Randle the second best draft-eligible RB prospect behind South Carolina's Marcus Lattirmore.

In fact, Brugler states that Randle is "just behind" Lattimore for that top spot. According to Brugler, Randle reminds him of a tougher version of Jamaal Charles, in terms of having speed with quick acceleration and the toughness and balance to stay up after first contact. The junior has rushed for at least 107 yards in every game this season and really has added a power element to his game.

Oklahoma State junior RB Joseph Randle rushed for 199 yards on eight yards per carry, to go along with two touchdowns, in Saturday's loss to Texas.

This Texas defense is no joke, and Randle made them look silly on a few runs. The junior flashed a nice blend of lateral agility and physical straight ahead running while blowing through attempted tackles. When he receives his opportunities, Randle consistently shines.

CBS Sports' Rob Rang considers junior RB Joseph Randle Oklahoma State's top prospect heading into the 2012 season.

Rang goes on to call Randle, "one of the most talented running backs" in the country. He questions Randle's ability to carry the load due to the ball carrier's lean frame, but Rang applauds Randle's balance after first contact, vision, and acceleration. The Cowboy finished last season with 1,216 rushing yards and 24 touchdowns and could make a case for an early-round selection in April.

Though not feeling additional responsibility, running back Joseph Randle is in the spotlight with Brandon Weeden and Justin Blackmon preparing for the NFL draft.

Randle is saying the right things with respect to not feeling as though he has to be the centerpiece of the Pokes’ offense. The bottom line, however, is Randle was a star in his own right last season, rushing for 1,216 yards and 24 touchdowns. As such, he is the Big 12’s leading-returning back. Despite Randle’s exceptional season, the focus was usually on the exploits of Weeden and Blackmon. That is no more as Randle is the leader of a mostly young offense.

Joseph Randle ran for 151 yards and 2 touchdowns in Oklahoma State’s 44-10 romp over visiting Oklahoma.

Both of Randle’s touchdowns were in the second quarter and it was the eighth time this season that he ran for at least 2 scores. His 23 rushing TDs are fourth nationally.

Oklahoma St. running back Joseph Randle had four rushing touchdowns and 152 yards on 14 carries in the Cowboys' win over Baylor.

It is Randle's second straight game in which he's had 4 touchdowns, as he had 3 rushing and 1 receiving TD last week against Missouri last week. Randle's 152 yards led the Cowboys' offense that ran all over the Bears for 327 rushing yards. Randle now has 16 rushing TDs on the season for OK State.

Oklahoma St. receiver Joseph Randle had four touchdowns in Saturday's win over Missouri.

Randle's performance ensured a Cowboys rout, even though star receiver Justin Blackmon left in the second quarter with an injury. Randle had 3 TDs on the ground and added his fourth on a 13-yard pass from Brandon Wheeden. The sophomore ran for 148 yards on 14 carries, rushing for an impressive 9.9 yards per carry.

Oklahoma State running back Joseph Randle has a pair of 100-yard games at the beginning of his first season as a starter.

In Stillwater it wasn’t a question of Mike Gundy having a couple of horses to turn to after the departure of Kendall Hunter, who ran for more than 1,500 yards last season and completed his four-year career with nearly 4,200 yards. Still, it has to be very satisfying to see the sophomore Randle -- 452 yards last season -- start this season with 100-yard games against two programs that offer different levels competition: Louisiana-Lafayette (129 yards) and Arizona (121).
