Auburn coach Gus Malzahn confirmed that S Kiehl Frazier will transfer from the school.
The former quarterback wants to return to his old position at another school after switching to safety last offseason. Frazier will reportedly transfer to Ouachita Baptist, a Division II school in Arkansas. "He's always been nothing but a winner with his attitude," Malzahn said. "We've talked through the year. He just felt like at this time that he wanted to go somewhere and play quarterback. We wish him nothing but the best. He'll do well." The former four-star QB recruit will join his brother Jed Beach, an offensive lineman, at OBU. Jan 10 - 10:40 PM

Auburn junior Kiehl Frazier will transition from QB to S.

Frazier actually asked to make the switch to defense. "I'm very proud of Kiehl Frazier. He's a winner, a class act," head coach Gus Malzahn says. Frazier added he is willing to move back to quarterback if Auburn struggles to find a consistent player at the position. We actually like the change, since Frazier does not have a future in the NFL as a passer.

Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn is keeping an open mind at the QB position.

"(Offensive coordinator Rhett) Lashlee is trying to keep an open mind of who gives us the best chance to win," Malzahn told AL.com. Kiehl Frazier is the expected starter, but Johnathan Wallace has a chance to win the job.

Auburn offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee said the team has tweaked head coach Gus Malzahn's offense from its previous iterations.

"We believe in playing fast, playing physical the entire game," Lashlee told Joel A. Erickson of Al.com. "At the same time, you've got to evolve, and we've done that over the years, we've changed things, we've tweaked things. Expect sophomore quarterback Kiehl Frazier to be the coaches' new student to mold.

Auburn head coach Gene Chizik has yet to name a starting QB for Saturday's game against Ole Miss.

"We’re going to go ahead and kind of go through the week, and we’ll see what is the best decision," Chizik said. "Both of them did some things Saturday that were good, and both of them did some things that obviously we’d like to take back." The competition is between sophomore Kiehl Frazier, who has started every game this season, and junior Clint Moseley, who replaced Frazier at halftime last weekend against Arkansas.

Auburn sophomore QB Kiehl Frazier was pulled in favor of junior QB Clint Moseley to start the second half of Saturday's game against Arkansas.

That is what happens when you don't score in the first half against a terrible Arkansas defense. However, Auburn's offensive line has been putrid, allowing four sacks through two quarters. Frazier looked indecisive and the Tigers offense could not get going in the game's first thirty minutes.

Auburn head coach Gene Chizik named sophomore Kiehl Frazier the school's starting QB.

The decision is not surprising since Frazier generated the most amount of positive buzz from teammates this offseason. After the announcement, Chizik said, "I am confident in his ability and leadership skills and look forward to watching him progress in both areas." The sophomore finished with only 12 passing attempts last season, two of which were interceptions, but it appears he has improved in that area. Frazier did finish with 327 rushing yards and three touchdowns in 2011.

When asked about the Tigers' QB race, head coach Gene Chizik said the starting spot was "up for grabs."

There has been no clear sign on whether Chizik plans to rotate quarterbacks or choose one and roll with him for the season, but sophomore Kiehl Frazier has drawn the most praise from teammates recently. After being used more as a running threat than passer as a freshman, Frazier has focused on completing his game. He finished last season with only 12 pass attempts, two of which were interceptions.

Auburn sophomore RB Tre Mason believes sophomore Kiehl Frazier, "has turned into a great quarterback."

"The way he dominated in high school, that's how he's dominating now," ‪Mason said. After being a quiet freshman last season, Mason also claims Frazier has been much more vocal in workouts and around teammates. Although, the team first challenged Frazier to take that leadership role prior to the changes. "We told him that we won’t win unless he steps up as a team leader," Mason explained. Frazier only attempted 12 throws lasts season, two of which were interceptions. He did finish with 327 rushing yards and three touchdowns.

Kiehl Frazier is picking up steam in the quarterback competition while Clint Moseley is bothered by a shoulder injury.

Coach Gene Chizik has said there is no time frame to anoint a No. 1 and he is certainly avoiding questions pertaining to the job being won this spring. Yet, Frazier, who lined up in Wildcat formations last season, has shown much improvement and is gaining confidence while Moseley is limited by a bad shoulder.

Bowl game could provide Auburn quarterback Kiehl Frazier with the opportunity to be the front-runner heading into 2012.

The wonderful thing about making a bowl game from a coach’s perspective is that it allows for additional practice time. The work is not only focused on the bowl opponent, but also to give some younger players reps with the next season in mind. Such is the case with Auburn coach Gene Chizik, who is having the freshman Frazier split time with sophomore Clint Moseley in the regular offense instead of working mostly in the wildcat formation. It could result in Frazier seeing plenty of time in a conventional offense when the Tigers play Virginia in the Chick-fil-A Bowl on Dec. 31. Moseley took over for injured Barrett Trotter and started the last five games with mixed results. Frazier has thrown only 12 passes this season while rushing 60 times for 272 yards.

Auburn coach Gene Chizik is evaluating the play of his quarterbacks, which could translate into more time for freshman Kiehl Frazier.

Frazier is the designated wildcat quarterback, but he has been learning more and more of the offense. Enough to see more playing time? That’s what Chizik will be evaluating after starter Barrett Trotter was 6-of-19 for 81 yards against Arkansas on Saturday and is 18-fo-42 with 3 INTs the past two weeks.

Star quarterback recruit Kiehl Frazier burned his redshirt last week and could turn out to be a versatile player for Gus Malzahn’s offense sooner than later.

With junior Barrett Trotter the unquestioned starter against Utah State and sophomore Clint Moseley the No. 2 QB, it did not appear as though Frazier would play much of a role, if any, for the Tigers this season. Yet, he was under center for a trick play against the Aggies. Will Auburn fans see more of the ultra-talented Frazier against SEC foe Mississippi State on Saturday?
