Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson expects running back Orwin Smith (undisclosed injury) to play Saturday.

Smith sat out last week’s game against Duke with an injury that has been kept secret. An explosive "A-back" in Johnson's option scheme, Smith is averaging 10.8 yards per rush, 23.8 per catch and 19.5 per kick return for an average of 14.5 yards per touch. He has 10 TDs rushing and one receiving.

Georgia Tech sophomore Orwin Smith had more than 100 yards rushing and receiving and 2 TDs on only seven plays from scrimmage in a rout over Kansas.

The junior A-Back in coach Paul Johnson’s flexbone offense averaged 9.7 per run last season. What he did Saturday, however, was mind-boggling. He was 5-157-1 on the ground and 2-108-1 via the air. That’s nearly 38 yards per play from scrimmage. He scored on a run of 95 yards and on a 67-yard reception. His average of 16.3 yards on three kick returns brought down his average per touch on the day. Tech set school records with 768 yards and 604 rushing yards in the 66-24 pasting of the Jayhawks.
