Texas senior WR Jaxon Shipley had three catches for 38 yards in Saturday's 33-16 win over West Virginia.
Shipley finally scored his first touchdown of the season against Texas Tech last week, but he was mostly invisible in the Longhorns' big win over West Virginia. Despite what's been a quiet season (54 catches, 538 yards, one touchdown), Shipley has a chance of finding himself on an NFL roster as a late-round pick. Over the summer, his physical tools were compared by CBS Sports' Dane Brugler to those of his third-round-selected brother Jordan. Nov 8 - 9:35 PM

Texas senior WR Jaxon Shipley had nine catches for 115 yards on Saturday against Oklahoma.

Shipley still hasn't scored this season after finishing with just one touchdown through the air in 2013. Even so, he remains a spectacular chain mover and possession threat, accumulating 38 receptions and 450 receiving yards across six games.

Texas senior WR Jaxon Shipley had six catches for 81 yards on Saturday against Kansas.

Shipley hasn't reached pay dirt in 2014, but he's been a nice possession receiver for the Longhorns, hauling in 26 receptions for 325 yards through four games. He's never finished with less than 44 catches over his four-year career. CBS Sports' Dane Brugler wrote over the summer that Shipley has a similar skill-set to his big brother Jordan, a third-rounder in the 2010 draft, though the analyst doesn't expect Jaxon to go as high in the draft.

Texas senior WR Jaxon Shipley (head) had nine catches for 65 yards on Saturday against UCLA.

Shipley was questionable all week and a game-time decision after suffering a concussion last week against BYU. He now has 20 catches for 144 yards on the year. Shipley has never finished with less than 44 catches over his four-year career.

Texas senior WR Jaxon Shipley (head) was cleared to play on Saturday against UCLA.

Shipley was questionable all week after suffering the head injury last week against BYU. On Saturday afternoon, Texas announced he would be a game-time decision. Obviously Shipley's symptoms had cleared by the evening. Shipley came into the night as the team's second-leading receiver with 11 catches for 79 yards. Texas is giving the favored Bruins, playing without Brett Hundley, everything they can handle in the first half.

Texas senior WR Jaxon Shipley is questionable to play in Saturday's game against UCLA in Arlington.

Shipley suffered a head injury in last week’s loss to BYU. Shipley's perimeter presence is needed against a highly-ranked Bruins team that has proven susceptible to upset bids in the first few weeks. Texas' toothless offense will once again play without injured QB David Ash. Shipley ranks second on the 'Horns with 11 catches for 79 yards. He also has 33 punt return yards.

CBS Sports' Dane Brugler thinks Texas senior WR Jaxon Shipley "has a similar skill-set" to big brother Jordan, a third-rounder in the 2010 draft.

"The younger Shipley won't match his older brother's receiving marks at Texas, but that's largely due to the fact that Jordan played with Colt McCoy and Jaxson has had to catch passes from wildly inconsistent Case McCoy and David Ash," Brugler wrote. "Shipley doesn't have elite physical traits with only ordinary size, speed and strength, but he has some shake in his routes and knows how to hold defenders, displaying a strong competitive nature at the catch point." The analyst doesn't believe Jaxon will go as high as Jordan (No. 84 overall). "But like his brother, he knows how to operate out of the slot and be an effective and reliable underneath target," Brugler wrote.

Texas junior WR Jaxon Shipley and sophomore WR Marcus Johnson returned to practice on Wednesday.

Both were limited on Tuesday. "They did not have more soreness today than yesterday, so that was good," head coach Mack Brown said. "We'll press them a little bit harder today, get them in more competition and probably won't know for sure how they'll do until Saturday morning." Shipley is recovering from a hip injury, while Johnson sprained his right MCL earlier this month.
