Arizona State senior RB Cameron Marshall ran for 98 yards on 7.5 yards per carry, along with one touchdown, Thursday against Colorado.
Marshall is a big back that needs to break first contact more often, but he flashes big time in a handful of games. This was easily his best performance of the season and teams may be looking at him to switch positions in the NFL. Still, with a nice finish to the season, he may be a target in the later rounds. Cameron Marshall could leave ASU with lofty credentials.

Coach Todd Graham has had plenty of good things to say about Marshall. As well he should. Coming off a season in which he ran for 1,050 yards and 18 touchdowns, Marshall could crack the Sun Devils’ top five in career rushing yards in 2012. Should he reach the 1,000-yard plateau again, it will be his second such season. Only two other ASU backs in the post-WWII era have had multiple 1,000-yard campaigns.

Arizona State's Cameron Marshall ran for 157 yards and 2 touchdowns in a 47-38 loss to visiting Cal on Friday night.

Marshall's second-highest rushing total of the season put him over 1,000 yards and his 2 TDs stretched his streak of at least one rushing score to nine games. He has 18 rushing touchdowns on the season.

Arizona State running back Cameron Marshall's ankle is still sore, but he can't wait to play Oregon.

With big games against USC and Oregon State on consecutive weeks, Marshall has been a key contributor (102-421-8) for the 5-1 Sun Devils. He was only 21-47 last week in a win over Utah and his right ankle continues to bother him. But with Oregon on tap, Marshall (18-79 against the Ducks last season) is needed to take the pressure of QB Brock Osweiler. Furthermore, after Marshall, there is no other ASU running back with as many as 100 yards.

Arizona State junior running back Cameron Marshall provides the Sun Devils with a punishing running game.

Marshall was 25-141-3 in ASU's impressive win over USC last week. He had a nice season in 2010, but not necessarily with an impact against a top-tier opponents like what he displayed against the Trojans. His hard running style can pave the way for many big games this season, which is what the Sun Devils and QB Brock Osweiler need to keep opponents on edge.
