Bills selected USC WR Robert Woods with the No. 41 overall pick.
Woods (6-3, 201) posted an absurd 111/1,292/11.6/15 stat line as a sophomore before taking a backseat to Heisman candidate Marqise Lee as a junior. Woods declared for the draft after catching 76 passes for 846 yards (11.1 YPR) and 11 scores in 2012. He ran 4.51 at the Combine and projects as a "Z" or slot receiver with sensational quickness and pro-ready route-running chops. His feet are lightning fast. A short-to-intermediate weapon, Woods profiles as a rich man's version of fellow ex-USC WR Steve Smith. Woods will likely play on the outside in Buffalo with Stevie Johnson set to take over the slot. He and 2012 third-rounder T.J. Graham will fight for targets behind Johnson. Fri, Apr 26, 2013 07:19:00 PM

USC WR Robert Woods has visited the Vikings, Jets, Colts, and Eagles.

Woods has visited other teams, but those meetings have not been closed. Woods is an excellent talent who excels int he short to intermediate game from the slot, but teams will need to feel comfortable about his recurring ankle injury. Expect Woods to be a second-round selection with a chance to at the late first.

NFL.com's Andy Fenelon reports the Minnesota Vikings spent "quality time" with USC WR Robert Woods.

Fenelon specifically reports that Vikings wide receivers coach George Stewart spent time with Woods. The team is in dire need of receivers after they traded away their best, Percy Harvin, to the Seattle Seahawks earlier this off-season. Woods is best fit as a slot receiver and could be an option for the team in the second round.

NFL.com's Charlie Casserly mocked USC WR Robert Woods to the Houston Texans in the first round.

Casserly noted that veteran wide receiver Andre Johnson "could use a partner." Woods is one of five receivers Casserly mocked in the first round and the last of the five. Woods has been considered a slot receiver by many, which is understandable because of his quickness.

The Detroit Lions recently met with USC WR Robert Woods for a pre-draft visit.

A lot of buzz has surrounded Woods as an ideal slot option, which would put him in a competition with the often injured Ryan Broyles. However, we think Woods can be more and thrives int he short to intermediate portions of the field. Expect a second-round selection.

One NFL scout called USC WR Robert Woods "an ideal slot guy."

"He’s more quick, than fast. But I like him. He makes plays," the scout added. Woods is a late first- or second-round target that appears to be getting lost in the shuffle. Still, he was super productive on short to intermediate targets, which translates very well to the NFL.

USC WR Robert Woods met with the San Francisco 49ers during the draft process.

Woods specifically met with head coach Jim Harbaugh, who had kind words for the receiver. "He's really done a wonderful job, and he came out of the school Serra in Southern California and they had five phenomenal players that we wanted to get to Stanford, and not a one of them came to Stanford," Harbaugh said. Harbaugh recruited Woods out of high school when he was at Stanford.

ESPN's Mel Kiper believes USC WR Robert Woods' draft status is tied to his forty time.

During a conference call, Kiper noted that is Woods runs well in Indy, he could slip into the first-round, but if he runs slower than expected, his projection is more in the third-round range. Woods to a back seat to Marqise Lee in 2012, but he has plenty of skill, especially on short to intermediate patterns. Don't overlook the ankle injuries that plagued him, however.

Draft insider Tony Pauline now lists USC's Robert Woods as his No. 10 WR.

Woods was Pauline's No. 7 receiver in the initial rankings and now has a solid third-round grade. The Trojan dealt with an ankle injury prior to the 2012 season that required surgery and does most of his damage in the short to intermediate sections of the field.

USC QB Matt Barkley called former teammate Robert Woods a "smart receiver who knows how to find the open windows and get open."

The two will start training together in the future to prepare for USC's Pro Day. Barkley said Woods' 2012 season was "a little tough" because of the publicity and how Marqise Lee was playing on the opposite side. We would add that Woods' offseason ankle issues after surgery likely played a role, as well.

Updating a previous item, USC junior WR Robert Woods received a second-round grade from the NFL Draft Advisory Board prior to declaring for April's Draft.

Woods also had some interesting words after the team's bowl loss, saying, "if the coaches wanted to keep me another year, they would've probably got me the ball." Woods defended those comments after the game and said they were taken out of tone. Draft grades from the NFL universally understate prospects' talent, playing it safe so to not be blamed for the impending decision, but Woods looks like a top-64 talent.

USC junior WR Robert Woods announced that he will enter the 2013 NFL Draft.

Woods does not possess the same top-end receiver skills as his sophomore teammate Marqise Lee, but the junior will help whoever drafts him. We think Woods does his best work on intermediate routes, creating separation with quick and decisive cuts. A second day selection is likely.

USC junior WR Robert Woods is expected to announce his NFL decision on Monday after the school's bowl game.

The Orange County Register cited sources stating that Woods "would probably turn pro, barring a last-minute change of heart." We don't think he possesses the number one receiver upside like his teammate Marqise Lee does, but Woods will likely be a top-50 selection in April. The LA Times wrote that Woods received a draft evaluation form the NFL that topped out in the second-round.

USC will play Georgia Tech in the Sun Bowl on December 31.

Matt Barkley, Robert Woods, and Marqise Lee should all end the season on a high note. The Yellow Jackets offer a few future NFL players in corner Rod Sweeting and junior linebacker Jeremiah Attaochu. The Trojans defense will need to play responsibly against the run, something that safety TJ McDonald has struggled with.
