Rams signed Texas RB Malcolm Brown.
Brown (5'11/224) was a plodding underachiever as a former five-star recruit to Texas, leaving college with 2,678 yards and 24 TDs on 630 carries (4.25 YPC). He had 51 career receptions. Brown ran 4.62 with a 9-foot-9 broad jump at the Combine, but did shine in agility drills and improved his forty time to 4.51 at the UT Pro Day. A one-speed grinder, Brown excels in pass protection and can catch. Perhaps he'll carve out an Andre Brown-like career as a third-down back and No. 2 runner. Sun, May 3, 2015 09:38:00 PM

Cardinals HC Bruce Arians told reporters he is open to adding a "bigger" RB this offseason.

Beat writer Josh Weinfuss suggests in the fourth- or fifth-round. There will always been late round or undrafted running backs who produce, but there is a drop off in obvious talent outside of the top 100, at least in our estimation. Texas' Malcolm Brown is a section favorite during the third day, however.

Per CBS, Texas RB Malcolm Brown is the draft's most sure-handed runner, fumbling only once every 619.0 touches.

In an absolutely loaded running back class, Brown could be a nice find in the latter stages of Day 3. He's a former five-star recruit, has an exceptional character and work ethic, doesn't turn the ball over, runs low to the ground with authority, and has both speed and agility. The tools never really added up at Texas, however. We see a poor man's DeMarco Murray.

Texas senior RB Malcolm Brown accepted an invitation to the East-West Shrine Game.

Keep an eye on Brown leading up the draft. He's a former five-star recruit who has size (6-foot, 215 pounds), speed and agility scouts crave. The production has never matched the skills, however, and evaluators will have to ascertain if that's Brown's fault, or the fault of his collegiate coaches. A generous projection of Brown would be that of a poor man's DeMarco Murray.

Texas senior RB Malcolm Brown rushed for 72 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 19 carries in Texas' 45-42 escape against Iowa State on Saturday.

Brown hasn't yet exceeded 100 yards in a game during this long, disappointing season. He's rushed for 396 yards and four touchdowns on 103 carries, a 3.8 YPC average. CBS Sports' Dane Brugler wrote over the summer that Brown "runs physical" and "low to the ground." Brown had 904 yards and nine touchdowns on 214 attempts and hauled in 17 receptions for 195 yards and two TD last season, numbers he isn't likely to match as a senior.

CBS Sports' Dane Brugler notes that Texas senior RB Malcolm Brown "runs physical" and "low to the ground."

"Brown follows his blocks well with good feel and vision to find openings and get to the second level. Although he doesn't have ideal power and explosive traits, Brown runs physical, low to the ground and always seems to be picking up positive yardage," Brugler wrote. Brown had 904 yards and nine touchdowns on 214 attempts and hauled in 17 receptions for 195 yards and two TD last season. The Longhorns prospect finished the 2013 season on a high note with three straight 100-yard performances (128, 131, 130). The 6-0, 215-pound Brown has the ideal size and speed scouts are looking for, and knows how to get north-south with a physical presence. Brown could fit the mold as perfect work-horse back at the next level.

NFL scouts are "paying close attention" to Texas senior RB Malcolm Brown's "progress as a feature back for the Longhorns," writes's Bucky Brooks.

Brown earned second-team All-Big 12 honors this past season by sprinting for 904 yards and nine touchdowns on 214 attempts and hauling in 17 receptions for 195 yards and two TD. He has collected 1,970 rushing yards over the past two seasons. "It's his physicality and burst that make me believe he will be an impact player in a power-based offense that features a downhill running game," Brooks wrote. "Whereas some runners wear down at the end of games, Brown is at his best when he surpasses the 20-carry mark in a game. That's why scouts are salivating over his size, skill and potential as a feature back in an old-school offense at the next level."

Texas junior RB Malcolm Brown will return to school.

Brown earned second-team All-Big 12 honors this past season by sprinting for 904 yards and nine touchdowns on 214 attempts and hauling in 17 receptions for 195 yards and two TD. "I wanted to come back and try to have an even better season than I did this past year, plus I can graduate." Brown said. "I wanted to experience Coach [Charlie] Strong and see what he has for us, and I feel like we're going to have a good year. We have a lot of guys coming back. We had a pretty strong 2011 (recruiting) class, and I want to come back and enjoy my senior year with all of them. We all have to wait our turn to be complete senior leaders, and it's our time now. I feel like we have an abundance of leaders in this class, not just me. It's going to be exciting."

Texas sophomore RB Malcolm Brown will miss this Saturday's game with West Virginia due to an ankle sprain suffered in last weekend's game against Oklahoma State.

Texas running back Malcolm Brown (turf toe) has played the last two weeks, but was largely ineffective against Kansas State and Texas A&M. Coach Mack Brown said he is close to healthy.

Brown, who was having a splendid freshman season before his injury kept him out of two games, is only 28-72-0 in two games (Kansas State and Texas A&M) since returning. Prior to the injury, Brown had 635 yards, including three 100-yard efforts, in seven games.

Texas coach Mack Brown intends to give the Sooners a dose of freshman running back Malcolm Brown.

The heralded freshman has had a nice season rushing for 327 yards at a 4.9 clip. His high-water mark was 22-110 and his first and only career TD to date against UCLA three weeks ago. Mack Brown would love nothing more than to consistently run the football against the Sooners, who rank 50th in rush defense. Brown will likely share in any success at accomplishing that.
