T-Mart also jumped 39 inches in the vertical, performed a 10'9'' broad jump and burst to a 3.81 second shuttle time. That's an otherworldly QB forty time, but of course Martinez doesn't have the gun to be an NFL QB. Casey Martinez, the quarterback's father, said earlier this winter that his son is open to other positions. His performance in Lincoln today will give scouts something to dream on. Mar 6 - 6:59 PM

Nebraska senior QB Taylor Martinez will likely miss the next six to eight weeks while recovering from a foot injury.

ESPN's Joe Schad calls it a "debilitating" injury, and that it will not heal without rest. This could end the longtime starter's career with the Cornhuskers. We doubt Martinez makes it as a quarterback, and his transition to another position will be very difficult.

Nebraska senior QB Taylor Martinez suffered a hip pointer against Minnesota.

Martinez cannot stay healthy this season. The senior quarterback just returned from a toe injury, but promptly suffered this new ailment. "I'm not going to sit here and play this game all year long," head coach Bo Pelini said. "(Redshirt freshman) Tommy (Armstrong) was the starter [Sunday], and that's the way it's going to be until further notice."

Nebraska senior QB Taylor Martinez suffered a hip pointer in Saturday's 34-23 loss at Minnesota.

Redshirt freshman Tommy Armstrong will once again move into the starting lineup. Martinez did not practice on Sunday and coach Bo Pelini said Armstrong would have started had the Huskers played on Monday. "I'm not going to sit here and play this game all year long," Pelini said when asked about this weekend's starter. "Tommy was the starter (Sunday), and that's the way it's going to be until further notice."

Huskers coach Bo Pelini said last week that he was optimistic Martinez would return in time to play against the Gophers. Nebraska senior QB Taylor Martinez is considered questionable for Saturday's game against Illinois.

The turf toe injury forced Martinez out of the last game against South Dakota State, ending his 32 game starting streak. The Huskers were on a bye last week, so it is telling that Martinez is still dealing with the injury. "It’s still to be determined," coach Bo Pelini said. "I think he’s getting closer to being 100 percent. He’s feeling a lot better." Redshirt freshman Tommy Armstrong and senior Ron Kellogg III played in his absence.

Nebraska expects to have senior QB Taylor Martinez back for the game against Illinois, according to CBS Sports' Jeremy Fowler.

Martinez missed last weekend's action due to turf toe, but the Cornhusker quarterback should be available for the school's Big Ten opener. Tyler Armstrong started in Martinez's absence and threw for 169 yards and a touchdown.

Nebraska senior QB Taylor Martinez is dealing with turf toe and his status for Saturday's game against South Dakota State is questionable.

"We’re going to make sure he’s 100 percent and feeling good," head coach Bo Pelini noted. Redshirt freshman Tommy Armstrong Jr. or senior Ron Kellogg would start in his place, and it is unlikely the team needs Martinez to win the game. The senior has completed 66 percent of his passes and thrown nine touchdowns compared to one interception.

Nebraska coach Bo Pelini said senior QB Taylor Martinez is "not even close to what his potential is."

Pelini loves Martinez's athleticism and arm strength, but states the obvious with regards to the signal caller's faulty mechanics. "Being a great quarterback comes back to not just the talent thing, it's not just the fundamentals and the technique issues, but it comes down to decision-making and efficiency at the quarterback position and making the offense work for you, and I think he's understanding that," Pelini said. "I think he grew in that area last year and there's still a lot more room for growth. ... He made some big changes in his throwing motion and really his footwork and shoulder angle."

Well something must have changed, because Martinez's motion and footwork looked much improved. We look forward to seeing him progress through the season.
