Former Wake Forest RB Josh Harris blamed his college coaches for going undrafted last weekend.
Harris appeared to be a star in the making as a freshman in 2010, but his career thereafter was mired by injuries. He was considered a fringe Day 3 prospect heading into the draft, and only Harris himself seemed surprised when his name wasn't called. Harris cited "slanderous remarks" and "false allegations" being fed to the NFL by the WFU coaching staff. Harris tweeted out a text message on Tuesday he had received from former OC Steed Lobotzke, who vouched for the player's character. May 15 - 10:44 PM

The NCAA awarded Wake Forest senior RB Josh Harris an extra season of eligibility.

Harris was previously ruled ineligible for the 2013 season, but the NCAA appears to have had a change of heart. Wake Forest did not previously comment as to whether Harris' ineligibility was related to academics or injuries, but the latter was expected since the running back has dealt with his share of leg injuries and concussion-like symptoms.

Wake Forest senior RB Josh Harris has been ruled ineligible for the 2013 season.

The school asked the NCAA for a waiver to restore at least one more season of eligibility, but the request was not granted. The school could not comment on whether Harris' ineligibility was related to academics or injuries, but we expect the latter. The running back was forced to stay on the sideline for long stretches of game action in 2012 due to multiple leg injuries, as well as concussion-like symptoms.

Running back Josh Harris has not been bothered by the hamstring that prematurely ended his 2011 season.

Harris played only five games last season, including a 136-yard effort against Florida State, before the hamstring virtually shut him down. The Demon Deacons have only three other scholarship running backs on their roster, so it’s critical that Harris come out of the spring feeling good about his health.

Wake Forest running back Josh Harris (hamstring) says he will play against Virginia Tech unless held back by coach Jim Grobe.

The Demon Deacons certainly hope that Harris will be available to play against the Hokies. All he did last season was rush for 241 yards, though Wake was thumped pretty good. Harris had his best game of this season last week against Florida State when he ran for 136 yards on only 13 carries. Senior Brandon Pendergrass would start should Harris not be cleared.

Josh Harris ran for 136 yards on only 13 carries in Wake Forest's 35-30 win over Florida State.

Harris previously has shown that he is more than capable of a big game. Lost in the shuffle of a 52-21 loss to Virginia Tech last season – though not lost on those who saw him perform that day – was Harris’ 241-yard rushing effort. The sophomore’s 136 yards against the ‘Noles was a season-high, a season in which he did not get much of anything going until today.
