Air Force quarterback Tim Jefferson practiced on Monday, but coach Troy Calhoun did not state if he would be the starter against Army on Saturday.

Tim Jefferson was removed in the second quarter of a 42-0 win over New Mexico with a facial injury, described previously in the Post as being to the bridge of his nose. Army is coming to Colorado Springs, which means Calhoun will want Jefferson under center from the get-go. A victory gives the Falcons the Commander-in-Chief Trophy for the second straight year. Jefferson has thrown for 1,007 yards, rushed for 298 and totaled 15 touchdowns.

Air Force quarterback Tim Jefferson established career highs for yards, completions and attempts against San Diego State.

Jefferson's numbers look surreal compared to most every other stat line in his career at Air Force. Running an option-based attack, it is rare that he would put the ball in the air as many as 15 times in a game. On Thursday night, he was 22-of-36 for 224 yards -- all career highs. He also tied his career high with 2 TD passes. Jefferson had 71 attempts in the first five games this season, including 24 against Notre Dame last week.
