Chargers selected WR Keenan Allen with the No. 76 overall pick.
Allen (6-2, 206) set Cal's all-time mark for receptions (205) despite entering the draft after his true junior season and missing the final three games with a torn left PCL. Allen held a personal Pro Day on April 9, running a terribly disappointing 4.71 forty. Allen is more of a short-to-intermediate receiver, but runs precise routes, has big (10") soft hands, and creates yardage exceptionally well after the catch. Drawing comparisons to Miles Austin, he's a classic "Z" receiver who can work the slot. Health is the biggest concern because Allen still wasn't 100 percent over five months removed from his knee injury. He'll compete for snaps as the fourth receiver in San Diego. NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah ranks Cal WR Keenan Allen No. 20 on the list of his top 50 prospects.

"I love the way Allen attacks the football in the air and he has a great feel for working in zones," Jremiah writes. "While his game isn't predicated on speed, his slow 40 time was still cause for some concern." Tavon Austin is the only receiver ranked ahead of Allen.

The NFL Combine confirmed to ESPN's Adam Schefter that Cal WR Keenan Allen's recent medical re-check was related to a right ankle injury.

Schefter previously noted Allen posted an odd drug test when higher than normal water levels were found in his system. Allen has dealt with a PCL injury since November, but this ankle injury goes back to the Spring of 2012 when the receiver underwent surgery. There's a real chance the Cal product lasts until the middle part of the second day.

One NFL scout said Cal WR Keenan Allen's stock will drop "significantly."

The scout said that there were already "character concerns," as Allen didn't interview well at the combine, where teams thought he was "big-timing" them. The scout also added that he's "probably" in the late second-round range.

NFL.com's Daniel Jeremiah said Cal WR Keenan Allen is a fit with the New England Patriots.

"Keenan Allen running in the 4.7's probably helped his chances of being there [at NE's pick]," Jeremiah said. "I like it a lot because I think when you watch Keenan Allen play, he's a very bright football player, he knows how to work in zones, I think he'd be able to work well with somebody like Tom Brady." Allen is indeed a possible fit for the team but has several questions, including health and an alleged failed drug test at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Cal WR Keenan Allen's failed drug test at the NFL Combine was apparently due to "suspiciously high levels of water in his system."

Former first-round bust Charles Rogers is another prospect who was flagged for the same thing. Allen's camp is denying the failed test but the receiver was retested this month, with the updated results unknown. Teams will have more info than the media will in this case.

Cal WR Keenan Allen was red-flagged for a drug test at the NFL Combine, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Allen was retested this month. Schefter adds that the Cal product is the top receiver on some boards and his agent denies a failed drug test and the results from the recent test are unknown. This news, along with a slowed healing process from a PCL injury, certainly will impact Allen's evaluation as the draft draws closer. It is not unreasonable to think he will last all the way until the late second-round.

NFL.com's Mike Mayock says he was told by scouts that Cal WR Keenan Allen is a 4.55 player on tape.

Allen ran a 4.71 and 4.75 40-yard dashes at his pro day, per Mayock, and the comments from the scouts comes as no surprise. Allen is a big, physical wide receiver that is a better athlete than he times and is very versatile. He can line up all over the formation and create matchup problems for defenses in ways similar to Miles Austin. Mayock said Allen could go anywhere from pick 25 to 45.

NFL Network's Mike Mayock timed Cal WR Keenan Allen's forties at 4.71 and 4.75 during the prospect's pro day workout.

Expect a wide variance of times from the pro day. Allen has dealt with a PCL injury during the pre-draft process, but doctors have said his knee is 100 percent, with the muscles surrounding it only around 75 percent. Allen's game isn't base don long speed, rather burst in and out of his breaks and toughness at the catch point.

NFL.com's Bucky Brooks mocked two WRs to the Minnesota Vikings, Cal's Keenan Allen at pick No. 23 and USC's Robert Woods at No. 25.

Brooks believes Allen would step into the No. 1 wideout role and Woods as the No. 2, who could also do damage in the slot. After Greg Jennings' contract, we doubt this will happen, but the Vikings do have multiple options thanks to two first-round picks.

NFL.com's Gil Brandt reports Cal WR Keenan Allen will meet with Dr. James Andrews on Monday.

Many will take the news as a bad sign for Allen's lingering PCL knee injury but it's tough to say one way or another. This could simply be another checkup for Allen, who is going to a very popular doctor in the sports world. Allen will have an individual workout on April 9 for teams because of his injury.

NFL.com's Gil Brandt reports Cal WR Keenan Allen won't be participating in the school's pro day.

Brandt adds that Allen will hold an individual workout on April 9, weeks before the draft. The receiver is still recovering from his PCL injury and is largely considered as one of the top prospects, if not the top, at his position. He could be a first-round selection if he works out well at his pro day.

According to one scout, Cal WR Keenan Allen is "the most polished of the receivers."

"The most ready to play of all of them," the scout added. "He will be a pretty high pick, and he should be." Allen seems to be getting lost in the shuffle, with Tavon Austin and Cordarrelle Patterson generating the most attention. The Cal receiver's Pro Day will be held on April 9 after he missed the Combine due to a lingering PCL injury.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Cal WR Keenan Allen will have his pro day on April 9.

Schefter adds that it will take place at Proehlific Park in Greensboro, N.C. Allen was absent from workouts due to a lingering PCL injury in his left knee. It will be interesting to see how well he runs. He reminds us of Miles Austin at times, while Mike Mayock has compared him to Anquan Boldin.

Draft guru Mike Mayock compares Cal WR Keenan Allen to Baltimore Ravens WR Anquan Boldin.

"If you like him, he's Anquan Boldin," Mayock said. "If you don't like him, he's speed deficient." He notes that the "only" question teams have with Allen is his speed. Allen won't be running at the NFL Combine due to a PCL injury in his left knee.
