Lions selected Notre Dame RB Theo Riddick with the No. 199 overall pick.
Riddick (5-10, 201) was the Irish's lead back in 2012, playing ahead of Cierre Wood as he rushed 190 times for 917 yards (4.83 YPC) and five scores. Riddick played receiver earlier in his career, compiling 120 catches for 1,263 yards (10.5 YPR) with eight receiving TDs. Riddick is a straight-linish, downhill runner with 4.68 wheels and some stiffness, despite his versatility. He's like a poor man's Dexter McCluster with less return value and lateral shake. He'll have to earn his roster spot in camp. Sat, Apr 27, 2013 05:14:00 PM

Notre Dame senior RB/WR Theo Riddick rushed 44 times for 270 yards (6.14 YPC) in the Irish's final three regular season games.

He added 10 catches for 147 yards in the Boston College, Wake Forest, and USC wins. Riddick has been Notre Dame's primary running back for most of the season, but he's also shown an ability to split out and catch passes in the slot, drawing on his previous experience at wide receiver. He a movable chess piece kind of player, like a poor man's Randall Cobb. As strictly a running back, Riddick is more the north-south downhill power back while junior-eligible No. 2 back Cierre Wood moves better laterally.

Notre Dame beat writer Eric Hansen revelaed that senior RB/WR Theo Riddick was limited last week against Miami in part due to an elbow injury.

Riddick only carried the ball five times while his backfield mates, Cierre Wood and George Atkinson, both rushed for over 100 yards. "He had a little bit of an elbow strain. He's been in for treatment, (but) he ran extremely well all week, didn't take any reps off.

Notre Dame’s Theo Riddick is finding the switch from receiver to running back to be a good thing.

Riddick will receive his first extended playing time at running back against Florida State in the Champs Sports Bowl on Dec. 29. Brian Kelly needed a plan should something happen to starter Jonas Gray (out with knee injury) and Cierre Wood. The second-year Irish coach told Riddick that he would be utilized in the backfield if need be. The junior, who had 29 carries for 160 yards as a freshman, heads into the bowl with only six carries for 27 yards.

Notre Dame receiver Theo Riddick’s hurting hamstring has him questionable for Stanford.

With Jonas Gray out for what remains of the season, there was some thought that Riddick would return to the lineup after missing two games and help Cierre Wood in carrying the load at running back. As it is, Riddick may miss a third contest against the Cardinal on Saturday. In nine games, the junior is 34-362-3.

Notre Dame wide receiver Theo Riddick (hamstring) is out for Saturday's game against Maryland.

Head coach Brian Kelly said the injury is not as bad as first expected, but the junior wideout will not play this week against the Terps. Riddick has grabbed 34 passes for 362 yards and two touchdowns, though he only had 1 catch for 12 yards last week against Wake Forest. Robby Toma will get the start for the Irish in Riddck's place.
