Packers selected Wisconsin WR Jared Abbrederis with the No. 176 overall pick in the NFL draft.
Abbrederis (6-foot-1, 195) earned draft evaluators' respect by shredding heralded Ohio State CB Bradley Roby for a 10-207-1 stat line last September. A former walk-on, Abbrederis did his best work at Z and X receiver as opposed the slot, leaving Madison ranked first all-time in career catches (202), and No. 2 in both receiving yards (3,140) and touchdowns (23). He was also an effective kick and punt returner. Although he created separation in the Big Ten, Abbrederis lacks ideal size, speed (4.50), and explosion (30 1/2" vertical), and will likely max out a sub-package wideout with special teams value. Wisconsin WR Jared Abbrederis position coach at Wisconsin, Chris Beatty, said several NFL scouts and coaches have called Abbrederis "one of the best route runners in the draft."

Abbrederis famously annihilated first-rounder Bradley Roby in September for 10 catches, 207 yards and a touchdown. "Roby is a great player," Beatty said. "Jared made him look average on that day. I mean, the guy couldn't keep up with him." Abbrederis is lost in the shuffle a bit amidst a deep WR class, and his measurables (6-foot-1, 195 pounds, 4.50 forty) aren't off-the-charts. However, he's a low-floor prospect who should stick. "He's one of those guys who pays attention to every little thing in the meeting," Beatty said. "He's a film guy, and he's been in a pro-style offense for four years, five years. He knows what those routes look like -- he's run them over and over. So he knows what comebacks look like, where sometimes the spread-offense guys don't have that background."

Wisconsin WR Jared Abbrederis' "speed is a question, and his 40 time will be important" at the NFL Combine, writes NFL.com's Mike Huguenin.

Huguenin likes Abbrederis' "excellent hands" and "crisp routes," but he's right in drawing attention to the importance of the receiver's 40 time. Abbrederis was highly productive at Wisconsin and does his best work on the edge. We were impressed with the 6-foot, 189 pounder's agility, ability to separate, and propensity to come down with the ball in contested situations at Wisconsin.

Wisconsin WR Jared Abbrederis will attend the 2014 Senior Bowl.

Abbrederis has produced a great final season at Wisconsin. His highlight performance was against Ohio State corner Bradley Roby, who many consider one of the top prospects in the country at his position. He produced 10 catches for 207 yards and a touchdown in that contest. Don't allow people to say Abbrederis is just a slot receiver, since he does his best work out on the edge.

Wisconsin senior WR Jared Abbrederis (ribs) was a full participant in Thursday's practice and is expected to play on Saturday against BYU.

Abbrederis suffered a rib injury in last weekend's win over Iowa. "He was out there moving around pretty good today," Badgers' coach Gary Andersen said. "I would expect him to be really not even be limited." Abbrederis could be line for a monster game against the Cougars; BYU has no one that can match up with him on the outside.

Wisconsin senior WR Jared Abbrederis' status for Saturday's game against BYU.

Abbrederis suffered apparently some kind of rib injury in the second half against Iowa. He did not practice in full this week and called himself "day-to-day." Wisconsin is obviously hoping for Abbrederis to be available, since BYU has no one that can match up with his talent on the outside.

Wisconsin senior WR Jared Abbrederis has been cleared to play against Illinois.

Abbrederis suffered a head injury in the blowout win against Northwestern. The term "concussion" was never used, and we wonder if Abbrederis could have returned if the game was a tighter contest.

Wisconsin senior WR Jared Abbrederis should be ready for Saturday's game against Illinois, according to head coach Gary Andersen.

Andersen never referred to Abbrederis' head injury as a concussion and it should not have any impact on his availability moving forward. The receiver left Saturday's win against Northwestern fairly early and did not return.

Wisconsin senior WR Abbrederis has been ruled out for the remainder of the Northwestern game with a head injury.

Prior to leaving, Abbrederis hauled in a 63-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Joel Stave. It is crazy that Abbrederis consistently hauls in big plays, since he is the only Badgers receiver consistently generating separation. Hopefully the injury doesn't keep him out too long.

Wisconsin senior WR Jared Abbrederis caught 10 passes for 207 yards and a touchdown in a 31-24 loss to Ohio State.

Abbrederis was easily Wisconsin's top player, and his matchup against junior corner Bradley Roby made it even more impressive. Roby was grabbing, pulling, and attempting to slow down Abbrederis all night, but the Badger receiver showed excellent agility and route running skill to separate. He made grabs in contested situations as well.

Wisconsin junior WR Jared Abbrederis grabbed seven catches for 142 yards and one touchdown in Saturday's loss to Nebraska.

Abbrederis is one of the more reliable players in college football but has missed a considerable amount of time in two games this season. Still, in the three games he has played significant minutes in, Abbrederis has caught at least six passes, including over 140 yards int he last two contests.

Wisconsin junior WR Jared Abbrederis has been cleared to play this weekend against UTEP.

Abbrederis left the team's week two matchup in an ambulance after sustaining a chest injury, which forced him out of last week's game against Utah State. Despite missing extended time, Abbrederis leads the Badgers with seven receptions for 110 yards, and has caught two of the team’s three touchdown passes. It appears he will have a new quarterback throwing to him in freshman Joel Stave.

Wisconsin head coach Bret Bielema said that there is a "good chance" junior WR Jared Abbrederis will play Saturday against Utah State.

Abbrederis left last week's game in an ambulance after a chest injury, but there is nothing "structurally that's going to keep him out," according to Bielema. The Badgers are struggling early in the season, so the junior's veteran presence is needed on the field.
