Fresno State junior QB Derek Carr completed 33-of-54 attempts for 362 yards, one interception, and two touchdowns against SMU.

At least Carr already stated he would be returning to school in 2013, because this is not the type of performance that would catapult a player to the NFL. Fresno State junior QB Derek Carr is ready to spread the ball around more in new head coach Tim DeRuyter's no-huddle offense.

"We may throw it around a little bit more, but it's still on me to read the coverages and know what the defense is doing," Carr said. However, the junior does not have an abundance of talent surrounding him, especially at receiver after Devon Wylie departed to the NFL and Jalen Saunders transferred after not clicking with the new offensive scheme. The Bulldogs are going through complete schematic overhauls on both sides of the ball.
