Patriots selected TCU WR Josh Boyce with the No. 102 overall pick.
Boyce (5-foot-11, 206) is a burner who averaged 15.7 YPR on 161 career catches and scored 22 touchdowns for the Horned Frogs. Despite nursing a broken pinkie toe, Boyce ran a 4.38 forty at the Combine with an explosive 10-foot-11 broad jump. Boyce underwent surgery and is questionable for rookie minicamps. The Horned Frogs' production dipped due to poor quarterback play, but he could ultimately be a better receiver the Aaron Dobson, who was picked earlier by the Patriots. Sat, Apr 27, 2013 12:24:00 PM

TCU WR Josh Boyce is visiting the Steelers on Thursday.

Boyce is a vertical target with good size who was limited by poor quarterback play in 2012. He participated in the NFL Combine despite suffering from a broken pinkie toe, but that determination and competitive nature shows up on the field for Boyce, as he fights for yards after the catch.

TCU WR Josh Boyce participated in the NFL Combine while suffering from a broken pinkie toe.

"Boyce has a fracture in the fifth metatarsal of his foot, an injury often characterized as a "Jones" fracture," according to CBS Sports' Rob Rang. "The injury can heal on its own. Many athletes, however, elect to have surgery... The surgery and rehabilitation would take six to 12 weeks." Boyce did undergo the surgery on Tuesday, and that time frame could put his availability for rookie minicamps in question.

Scouts Inc.'s Steve Muench says he likes what he has seen from TCU WR josh Boyce thus far.

Boyce, "catches ball well and (is) competitive after the catch," according to Muench. The TCU product put on a good showing at the NFL Combine to back up solid tape, and could find himself in the third- or fourth-round.

TCU WR Josh Boyce recorded an unofficial 4.38 forty, with a 1.56 10 yard split, at the NFL Combine.

Boyce consistently stretched the field at TCU, but poor play at the quarterback position in 2012 limited his ability. The Horned Frog needs to catch the ball more consistently, but he fits the "upside" tag.

TCU junior WR Josh Boyce declared for April's NFL Draft.

Boyce was expected to put forth a below average season after quarterback Casey Pachall was suspended for off field issues. The downfield speedster can really separate on vertical routes while tracking the ball on bucket throws. We'd like to see more variety from Boyce, but he adjusts well to underthrown passes and is likely a third day option.

TCU junior WR Josh Boyce became the program's all-time leader in receiving touchdowns, hauling in his 18th career score against Virginia.

Boyce also added four receptions for 22 yards. The junior has been a favorite target of Andy Dalton and now Casey Pachall and is certainly a future NFL player. Due to the lack of talent in the senior receiver class, it is not unreasonable to think Boyce may enter the 2012 Draft.
