Redskins selected Florida TE Jordan Reed with the No. 85 overall pick.
Reed caught 45 balls for 559 yards (12.4 YPR) and three touchdowns as a junior before declaring for the draft. A Dustin Keller-type tight end, Reed is undersized and fluid, though he disappointed at the Combine with a 4.72 forty. Reed isn't going to block anyone in the NFL and will have to be utilized creatively as a receiver only. He's high-quality insurance in case Fred Davis (Achilles) breaks down or walks as a free agent following this season. Fri, Apr 26, 2013 09:50:00 PM

NFL Films' Greg Cosell believes Florida TE Jordan Reed is "very similar" to Aaron Hernandez

"Love him on tape," Cosell tweeted. "Chance to be next "Joker" TE in NFL." Reed is a natural mover with the ball in his hands and shows a willingness to block, although the success is inconsistent. We feel that Hernandez was a more finished product coming out of college, but they do have comparable traits.

Florida's Jordan Reed is no longer listed among NFL Network draft analyst Mike Mayock's top five TEs.

Reed was listed as Mayock's fifth tight end in the last batch of rankings, but Vance McDonald recently took his place. The Gator ran a 4.72 forty in Indy and is at his best in a Joker receiving role, smoothly making things happen after the catch.

Florida Joker TE Jordan Reed ran an official 4.72 forty at the Combine, with a 1.63 10 yard split.

Reed also completed 16 reps on the bench press. The former quarterback is an exceptional ball carrier after the catch and does flash some effort blocking. He projects as a moving chess piece in the NFL.

Florida TE Jordan Reed arrived in Indianapolis at 6'2 1/2 and 236 pounds.

Reed is an uber-athletic tight end that fits the current Joker mold, as a slot target with receiver skills in a bigger frame. The former quarterback is very fluid in space and a natural runner with the football in his hands.

Florida junior TE Jordan Reed was benched during the Sugar Bowl for his "attitude."

According to beat writer Pat Dooley, "there were several upperclassmen who tanked it" against Louisville. Reed declared for the NFL shortly there after, and although he never recorded over 90 receiving yards in a game, the junior could be the first "Joker" off the board. He is a natural receiving tight end after playing at quarterback and running back.

Florida junior TE Jordan Reed will forgo his final season of eligibility and enter the 2013 NFL Draft.

He wasn't very active during the team's bowl game, but Reed may be this year's top Joker option as an H-Back/tight end. The former quarterback is a natural receiver that moves very well in space. We'd expect a second day selection to be in his future, especially after a solid performance at the NFL Combine.

Florida junior TE Jordan Reed remained noncommittal when questioned about returning for his senior season after the school's bowl loss Wednesday.

Reed, the team's leading receiver, was rarely targeted in the Gators final game of the season, making one catch for seven yards. It appeared as if he was held on the sideline, but nothing was mentioned about a benching or possible injury. Still, e possesses great agility and natural pass catching skills, and could be the first jokey type tight end selected in April.

Florida junior TE Jordan Reed caught five passes for 85 yards in the Gators narrow win over ULL.

Reed has had a great season and may have secured the top spot among draft-eligible joker tight ends. His receiving ability and movement after the catch seems so natural.

Florida junior TE Jordan Reed caught four passes for 44 yards and two touchdowns Saturday against South Carolina.

Each of Reed's touchdowns came on short receptions where he worked behind the defense on play action passes. Still, the former quarterback's natural receiving and ball carrying skills are on display each reception. He may rise enough to be the first Joker tight end drafted.

Florida junior TE Jordan Reed suffered a head injury during Saturday's game against Kentucky.

Reed had a solid showing, catching three passes for 41 yards and displaying sound body control and run after catch ability. The injury took place after a "violent collision" over the middle of the field during the second quarter against Kentucky. We think Reed could rise to become one of the top Joker/move draft-eligible tight end prospects.

Florida junior TE Jordan Reed continued to show promise Saturday against Kentucky, catching three passes for 41 yards.

Reed had a ridiculous catch in this game and is finally starting to open some eyes. The former quarterback is comfortable carrying the ball after the catch and his athleticism could lead him to claiming the top Joker tight end ranking in the class.

SI's Tony Pauline evaluates Florida junior TE Jordan Reed as an undrafted free agent prospect headed into the 2012 season.

Reed as been a versatile athlete for the Gators while playing the role of a run/pass option quarterback during his college career and found a home at tight end last year. Pauline calls him "relatively athletic" but his game is "undeveloped". We think the undrafted projection is odd considering how much NFL teams value athleticism at the position. For example, Adrien Robinson was drafted in the fourth-round after only catching 12 passes in his final season, and fifth-round selection Taylor Thompson never played tight end until a post season all star game.
