Redskins selected Rutgers RB Jawan Jamison with the No. 228 overall pick.
Jamison (5-foot-7 3/8, 203) spent two seasons as a Scarlet Knight before declaring for the draft as a redshirt sophomore. He rushed 486 times for 1,972 yards (4.06 YPC) and 13 touchdowns, also catching 36 passes. Jamison ran poorly at the Combine, both in the forty (4.68) and ten-yard split (1.66). On tape, Jamison shows some open-field cutting ability but is small and runs small, and lacks explosive run skills. The Redskins have now used two late-round picks on running backs -- Jamison and Chris Thompson -- which puts Roy Helu and Evan Royster on notice. Alfred Morris' starting job is in no way threatened. Scouts Inc.'s Todd McShay lists Rutgers' Jawan Jamison as his fifth overall RB.

Jamison hasn't received much attention through the pre-draft process after leaving school following his redshirt sophomore season. He is a compact runner with some nice cuts at the second level, but we question his overall athleticism to match up with his running style.

Rutgers redshirt sophomore RB Jawan Jamison has declared for the NFL Draft.

Jamison started the season on a tear but dealt with an ankle injury that slowed him down quite a bit. He is the second redshirt sophomore at the position to declare for April's draft, and Jamison will likely be in contention to be the first running back selected.

Rutgers redshirt sophomore RB Jawan Jamison rushed for 21 yards on 13 carries against Virginia Tech on Friday.

Jamison appeared to aggravate an ankle injury he suffered from earlier in the season, but the young runner wasn't effective even when healthy. It seems as though Jamison is still mulling his NFL decision, but this wasn't the kind of performance he hoped to end the season with. Still, he likely remains a second day pick regardless.

Rutgers redshirt sophomore RB Jawan Jamison rushed for 50 yards on 15 carries against Louisville on Thursday.

He added one reception for 14 yards. It was not the typical solid performance for Jamison, with his largest carry going for nine yards, but the young runner will get a chance to improve on his numbers in a bowl game. Earlier this week, SI's Tony Pauline passed along word that Jamison is leaning towards declaring for the 2013 Draft.

SI's Tony Pauline passes along word that the "whispers are getting louder that" Rutgers redshirt sophomore RB Jawan Jamison will declare for the NFL Draft.

This would not be a surprise, as Jamison is one of the top two redshirt sophomores at the position, along with UNC's Gio Bernard. After Marcus Lattimore went down with an injury, the likelihood of both declaring increased. Jamison dealt with an ankle injury during the last few weeks of the season but his straight-line cutting ability is excellent.

Rutgers redshirt sophomore RB Jawan Jamison was limited to 14 yards on nine carries Saturday against Pittsburgh.

Jamison was nearly shut out, tallying one run of 13 yards with the other eight only adding up to one yard. Hopefully the redshirt sophomore puts together a big bowl game performance to end his season on a high note. Will still aren't sure which way he is leaning in terms of declaring for April's Draft.

Rutgers redshirt sophomore RB Jawan Jamison was limited to only four carries for 37 yards Saturday against Cincinnati.

Jamison is dealing with a sprained ankle and was needed against a Cincinnati team that lacks talent. His counterpart, Savon Huggins, carried the ball 41 times. Expect Jamison to play more next week against Pitt.

Rutgers head coach Mike Flood stated that there is a 75-percent chance redshirt freshman RB Jawan Jamison plays on Saturday against Cincinnati.

Jamison is dealing with a sprained ankle. "I’ve seen these kind of things go both ways. It wouldn’t surprise me if he didn’t react well to it... But we’re a little more optimistic after today," Flood said. The head coach added that if the game were to be played on Thursday, Jamison would not have played. These could be the redshirt sophomore's final games at Rutgers.

Rutgers redshirt sophomore RB Jawan Jamison is 50-50 to play in Saturday's game against Cincinnati with an ankle injury.

The team was off Monday but Jamison did not practice Sunday night. At one point, the injury was deemed "minor," so we would expect Jamison to play, but it is possible that the initial diagnosis was too optimistic. On the 50-50 tag, head coach Kyle Flood explained, "That’s how I put it until I see them do something on the field."

Rutgers redshirt sophomore RB Jawan Jamison's ankle injury, which kept him sidelined for a series and a half, is believed to be minor.

Jamison finished the day with 90 yards on 22 carries, but his brief absence surely scared some watching. The breakout running back is considered day-to-day with a sprained right ankle.

Rutgers redshirt sophomore RB Jawan Jamison rushed for 90 yards on 22 carries, and threw a touchdown on a 16 yard completions, Saturday against Army.

Jamison has been a consistent force all season and could enter the draft despite having two years of eligibility remaining. He and UNC redshirt sophomore Gio Bernard will likely battle for the top spot if both declare.

Rutgers redshirt sophomore Jawan Jamison is close to becoming the first Scarlet Knights RB to rush for 1,000 yards since Ray Rice.

Jamison currently has 863 yards in eight games, crossing the century mark in six of them. The redshirt sophomore has added 299 receiving yards in that span as well. With four games left, Jamison looks to have the 1,000 yard mark in his sights and could decide to make the jump to the NFL after this season.

Rutgers redshirt sophomore RB Jawan Jamison rushed for 84 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries, along with 88 receiving yards on eight receptions, Saturday against Kent St.

Jamison displayed one cut running ability with strength at the second level to produce a few long runs against a solid Kent St. team. Although he is just a redshirt sophomore, we wouldn't be surprised if Jamison declares for April's Draft. His play this certainly would certainly back up that decision.

Rutgers redshirt sophomore RB Jawan Jamison carried the ball 19 times for 144 yards Saturday against Temple and also caught five passes for 81 yards and a touchdown.

Jamison is an absolute stud and makes everyone miss with short steps and cuts coupled with burst. We have seen redshirt sophomore running backs declare in recent years, namely Lamar Miller, Ronnie Hillman, and Ryan Williams, so Jamison could be the next in line. Another option may be UNC's Giovani Bernard.
