CBS Sports' Dane Brugler believes LSU senior RB Kenny Hilliard "has the size and toughness to be a short-yardage grinder who can eat carriers for an offense."

The LSU prospect has a history working in a rotation, as he spent time sharing a backfield with Leonard Fournette, Terrence Magee and Darrell Williams last season. The 6-foot, 232-pound Hilliard had 90 carries for 447 yards and six touchdowns, with 4 catches for 35 yards on the year. Brugler notes that Hilliard's "lack of speed, vision and versatility limits his NFL ceiling."

LSU senior RB Kenny Hilliard is a "downhill power back with the physical nature to run over defenders," according to CBS Sports' Dane Brugler.

"Well built at 230 pounds, Hilliard is a downhill power back with the physical nature to run over defenders and pick up steam as he goes. He began the 2014 season as the Tigers' starter before a shoulder injury sidelined him." Brugler wrote. The Tigers prospect rushed for 447 yards and six touchdowns on 90 carries this season, averaging 5.0 yards a carry. The 6-foot, 232-pound Hilliard will play in the East-West Shrine game on January 17.

LSU senior RB Kenny Hilliard "is at his best as a battering ram in short yardage situations," according to CBS Sports' Rob Rang.

It is the lightest Hilliard has been since stepping foot on campus. "I'd wake up early at 5 a.m. and run on the treadmill," Hilliard said. "I had to. They wanted me down. I had to listen to my head coach." As always, the Tigers' backfield is crowded, with sophomore Jeremy Hill and Alfred Blue, but Hilliard could secure some touches.

After biding his time working out at fullback, LSU’s Kenny Hilliard has been making some nice contributions as a tailback.

Hilliard’s recent play has gone well beyond the goal-line and other short-yardage situations with which he was utilized earlier in the season. Much of the credit for LSU’s 41-3 run against Arkansas last week after falling behind 14-0 goes to Hilliard. The freshman easily had season highs with 19 carries and 102 yards and he also had his sixth TD. The week before at Ole Miss, Hilliard was 9-59-1. That's 28-161-2 in the last two games after only 21 carries in the first 10 games.
