Former Penn State QB, turned Temple H-back, Kevin Newsome will likely move to RB for the 23013 season.
"I think we are going to try to play Kevin more as a running back, more of a tailback type of body if he can do it," Temple coach Matt Rhule said. "That [H-back] position is such a hybrid position. So you can tailor it one way or the other. … But I think Kevin is going to be more of a tailback." Newsome missed part of spring work due to a shoulder injury and was passed on the depth chart by Chris Coyer. Fri, May 10, 2013 12:31:00 PM

Quarterback Kevin Newsome is determined to make the most of his chance with Temple.

It didn’t work out at Penn State, so Newsome will give it a go at Temple. Chris Coyer was the No. 1 quarterback for most of 2011 and deservedly remains atop the depth chart heading into spring drills. Newsome, who had bouts of immaturity with the Nittany Lions, is determined to impress coach Steve Addazio and get his share of playing time. Newsome has two years of eligibility remaining.

Former Penn State quarterback Kevin Newsome has verbally committed to Temple and, according to sources, is headed to the North Philly school.

Newsome left Penn State prior to the start of last season and has two years of eligibilty remaining. Either the No. 2 or No. 3 QB during his time at State College, Newsome would be a good fit in the spread offense that coach Steve Addazio incorporated at Temple. Newsome would be battling Chris Coyer for playing time. Coyer ran the system effectively after securing the starting job last season.
