Trey Metoyer earned plenty of praise from teammates and coaches for his work this spring.

Metoyer, who was in prep school last year, will continue to battle for playing time in August. Jazz Reynolds and Kenny Stills are the leading returning receivers with quite a drop-off after those two. Should Metoyer continue to impress during the preseason, then QB Landry Jones may very well have at least a trio of dependable pass catchers heading into the season. Metoyer has good, not great size at 6-2, 200.

Finally in Norman, Trey Metoyer is showing he has the hands and build to be a strong outside receiver.

Metoyer spent last year getting his academics in order at Hargrave Academy in Virginia. Now that he has arrived in Norman, the sophomore-to-be has been very impressive in spring drills. A physical receiver, Metoyer is competing with a nice group of experienced players that will have him pushing for playing time.

After being ineligible last season, receiver Trey Metoyer is eager to take the field this spring.

The NCAA ruled Metoyer was academically ineligible last year, so it was off to Hargraves Military Academy in Virginia to play football. Having enrolled at OU mid-term, Metoyer can finally show Bob Stoops and the offensive staff what kind of receiver he is. He certainly stood out in the Lone Star State finishing second all-time in Texas high school history with 252 receptions. With Ryan Broyles off to the NFL, Metoyer will have a shot at helping fill a major vacancy.
