Kentucky redshirt junior RB Braylon Heard "could find a niche as a change of pace back as a Day Three pick or undrafted free agent," writes CBS Sports' Rob Rang.
The 5-foot-11, 189-pound Heard wins with make-you-miss ability in space and has a great set of hands out of the backfield. The former Nebraska transfer rushed for 830 yards and eight touchdowns on 150 carries. While Heard lacks the ideal frame of a three down back at the next level, he should be able succeed on passing downs in a running back by committee type of role. Apr 20 - 3:31 PM

CBS Sports' Dane Brugler believes Kentucky redshirt junior RB Braylon Heard "is a poor man's" Reggie Bush.

The 5-foot-11, 189-pound Heard displays big-play ability out of the backfield, but lacks the ideal size and strength at the next level to be effective in the trenches. The Kentucky prospect could be labeled as a third-down option on passing downs, that can cause mismatches against linebackers in space. Brugler adds that, Heard is a "3rd round option," that "would be a steal in the 4th."

Kentucky redshirt junior RB Braylon Heard will declare for the NFL draft.

This certainly isn't based on production, as Heard rushed for 830 yards and eight touchdowns on 150 carries. In fact, the decision could be due to a lack of playing time. He was set to graduate in May.

Kentucky redshirt junior RB Braylon Heard had 15 carries for 62 yards in Saturday's win against Vanderbilt.

Heard had been listed as probable for this game with an ankle injury. CBS Sports' Rob Rang wrote over the summer that he believes Heard displays good "quickness and acceleration." Heard transferred from Nebraska last May after struggling to fight his way up the depth chart. He landed on his feet and now starts for the Wildcats. "Heard has good quickness and acceleration and should provide the Wildcats with a big-play threat out of the backfield," Rang wrote.

The Advocate Messenger reports that Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops said Thursday that Kentucky redshirt junior RB Braylon Heard, "more than likely will not play against Ohio Saturday."

"Like I said yesterday, he's questionable. More than likely will not play. He tried to get out there today, run around a little bit, so we'll see. Maybe he'll heal up," Stoops said after Thursday’s practice. Before spraining his ankle on Saturday, the 5-foot-11, 189-pound Heard ran for 116 yards and only had two carries last week that went for touchdowns of 73 and 43 yards.

CBS Sports' Rob Rang thinks Kentucky redshirt junior RB Braylon Heard displays good "quickness and acceleration."

"After sitting out last season as part of the transfer process, Heard is in good position to emerge as the Wildcats' starter in 2014," Rang wrote. Heard decided to transfer from Nebraska last May after struggling to fight his way up the depth chart. He rushed for 348 yards on 6.7 yards per carry and scored three touchdowns in 2012. "Heard has good quickness and acceleration and should provide the Wildcats with a big-play threat out of the backfield," Rang wrote.

Nebraska sophomore RB Braylon Heard is transferring to Kentucky.

"I feel it is the right spot because I feel like I fit in well at the university," Heard told ESPN. "Kentucky will set up the run really well. They have good players on the outside, three good QB’s, a great line and backs. And yes, can’t beat being in the SEC." He will have to sit out the 2013 season.

Nebraska sophomore RB Braylon Heard is expected to transfer to a different program.

Nebraska’s Braydon Heard will get a look at corner when the spring season begins on March 10.

Heard served as a backup running back last season rushing for 114 yards and one TD on 25 carries. Because of the level of experience returning in the offensive backfield for 2012, Heard could benefit with respect to playing time from a switch. Coach Bo Pelini said that he would have recruited Heard as a corner, but still likes him as a running back.
