Raiders signed Texas WR Mike Davis.
Davis (6-foot, 197) was a 38-game starter for the 'Horns, finishing his career with 200 catches for 2,753 yards (13.8 YPR) and 18 touchdowns. Primarily a vertical receiver in college, Davis has plus speed (4.48) but average all-around athleticism (32 1/2" vertical, 9'9" broad jump), and has a tendency to fight the football rather than catch it cleanly with his hands. There were also whispers of work ethic concerns at UT. Davis projects as a situational field stretcher at the next level. May 11 - 2:53 PM

Texas WR Mike Davis (foot) was clocked between 4.46-4.48 seconds in the forty at Wednesday's pro day, according to CBS Sports.

Davis was held out of NFL Scouting Combine on-field drills in February due to a foot injury. NFLDraftScout.com ranks him as the draft's No. 18 receiver. CBS Sports draft analyst Rob Rang observed Davis at the Senior Bowl and wrote that "his reliable routes and hands caught my attention."

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports that Texas WR Mike Davis will not be taking part in the Combine on-field drills, due to a foot injury.

Although Davis won't perform at the Combine, he did measure in at 6 feet and 197 pounds in Indy.

Texas WR Mike Davis displays "inadequate on-field body language and temperament," writes NFL Media draft analyst Nolan Nawrocki.

Davis "is usually at the back of the line in practice drills and does not exhibit urgency in his play or leadership traits in the locker room," according to Nawrocki. "Displays starter-caliber physical traits, yet his playing demeanor and approach turn off many evaluators and could force his draft status to sink." Davis is a burner and those wheels will secure him a job for the next few years. To stick in the pros long-term, he'll need to improve upon his consistency and maturity.

Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley said WR coach Jerry Sullivan is high on Texas WR Mike Davis.

Davis is a vertical receiver who wins on downfield routes and skinny posts. The Longhorns passing offense was not overly impressive last season... or the year before, but Davis has speed the NFL covets. We believe he needs to catch the football more comfortably, as he tends to fight it.

Texas senior WR Mike Davis caught four passes for 112 yards and two touchdowns in the school's 41-16 win over Texas Tech.

Davis might be remembered most for his cheap block in the endzone earlier this season, but he is actually a talented receiver that doesn't get enough attention in a struggling offense. The senior has some nice long speed and at the very least could be used in a vertical capacity at the next level.

Texas senior WR Mike Davis retracted his Monday statement in which he said he'd "do the same thing" when discussing his cheap shot on Iowa State defensive back Deon Broomfield.

"If we have another run-pass situation, I'd do the same thing. If the defensive back is loafing, he deserves to get cut," Davis said on Monday. Davis doesn't appear terribly remorseful in a Tuesday video released by the school, but at least his words have changed: "My comments yesterday were not intended to indicate that I would ever do anything illegal or malicious, and I would never have any intent of hurting anyone or doing anything else outside of the rules. I would like to provide a full retraction of anything I said that wasn't apologetic for the play last Thursday, and that I completely understand and accept the reprimand issued by the Big 12 ... I will do everything that I can to learn from all aspects of this situation and nothing like this will ever happen again."

Texas senior WR Mike Davis, who was shown making an illegal low block in the endzone, told reporters he'd do the same thing if the same situation presented itself.

"If we have another run-pass situation, I'd do the same thing," Davis said. "If the defensive back is loafing, he deserves to get cut." The block was unnecessary and many will call it dirty, since it occurred in the endzone after his teammate had already scored.

Texas senior WR Mike Davis caught six passes for 64 yards in a 31-30 win over Iowa State.

Davis had been dealing with an ankle injury that limited him for some time. Expect to hear his name quite a bit in the few days after cameras caught him taking a low cheap shot on an Iowa State defensive back in the endzone. Some will question if he should miss game action because of it.

Texas senior WR Mike Davis is listed as questionable for Thursday's game against Iowa State.

Davis has been dealing with an ankle injury for weeks. The senior was held out against Kansas State after posting three games with at least five catches to start the season. We think he is one of the more overlooked prospects in the country, so hopefully Davis' ankle heals to full strength in the coming weeks.

Texas senior WR Mike Davis is questionable for Saturday's game against Kansas State.

Davis hurt his ankle right before halftime against Ole Miss but returned to make seven catches for 46 yards and a touchdown. He will be evaluated this week in the hopes of practicing and playing. Davis is one of the more overlooked senior receivers in the country.

Texas senior WR Mike Davis caught eight passes for 114 yards and two touchdowns in a 40-21 loss to BYU.

Davis is one of the more overlooked veteran receivers in the country but he has great talent. Teams are going to love his vertical speed to separate at the catch point, but he would be wise to attack the ball in the air more often instead of waiting for the bucket catch.

NFL.com's Gil Brandt listed Texas' Mike Davis as the top senior WR in the country.

Wyoming's Robert Herron, BYU's Cody Hoffman, Pittsburgh's Devin Street, and Vanderbilt's Jordan Matthews round out the top five. Brandt notes Davis runs the forty in the 4.5 range. "He considered leaving school after last season, during which he averaged 16.5 yards per catch and had seven touchdowns," Brandt added. "He is a big-play receiver with the size and speed necessary to compete in the NFL. Davis possesses a lot of upside."

Texas senior Mike Davis could emerge as a No. 2 WR in the NFL, according to former scout Bucky Brooks.

"Scouts searching for a polished receiver with outstanding hands and ball skills will spend plenty of time in Austin poring over Davis' impressive game film," Brooks notes. Davis "is a remarkable "jump ball" pass catcher with sneaky speed and quickness. He excels at winning 50-50 balls on vertical routes, but also dazzles as a playmaker on "catch-and-run" balls over the middle of the field." The Longhorns did not use Marquise Goodwin effectively last year, so here is hoping they change their ways with Davis.

Texas senior WR Mike Davis is "crafty after the catch," according to Scouts Inc.'s Kevin Weidl.

Weidl notes that Davis' "ball skills are a bit inconsistent," but "he's a smooth route runner that can stretch the field." The senior receiver group isn't outstanding, and Davis will have a chance to claim the top spot in that category with a strong final season.
