San Diego State RB Adam Muema didn't work out at San Diego State's pro day on Thursday.
Muema's name was on a list distributed to scouts that specified which players might attend, but even Aztecs coach Rocky Long didn't know if he would perform for evaluators before the exhibition. "He’s on the list, but whether he will be here or not, I have no idea," Long said. Muema rushed for 1,244 yards and 15 touchdowns in 2013, but since then his story has turned downright bizarre: He declared for the NFL Draft on Twitter, then deleted the post, then officially declared. The NFL Draft Advisory Board projected him as a third-day pick (fourth to seventh round). He unexpectedly left the NFL Combine before working out, citing religious reasons, saying God told him he would be a Seattle Seahawk if he skipped workouts. He spent three days in the airport after God told him to stay there and "not do anything." A little over a week ago, he tweeted that he was retiring from football. Whether he meant that or not, he's guaranteed his fate over the last few months. Mar 20 - 4:47 PM

Former San Diego State RB Adam Muema tweeted he is done playing football.

"I will NOT be playing FOOTBALL!" Muema posted, along with a screenshot of a conversation he had with "Angelus Domini." The running back has had a bizarre draft process, including leaving the Combine and living in the airport for a few days after citing religious beliefs as reason. He will not be drafted.

San Diego State RB Adam Muema, who unexpectedly left the NFL Combine before working out, spent three days in the airport after God told him to stay there and "not do anything."

Oklahoma linebacker Corey nelson has been working out with Muema, and the running back called to request a pick up from the airport. Muema was apparently "focused, cheerful and very wise," per Nelson. Muema previously left the Combine, saying God promised he would be drafted by the Seattle Seahawks.

A person close to San Diego State RB Adam Muema expressed concern about his whereabouts after the prospect left the NFL Combine for religious reasons.

"I have no idea where is," the acquaintance told the San Diego Union Tribune. "(San Diego State coaches) have been trying to track him down, too. Every time they do, his phone is off. ... It's a frustrating deal." Lou Farrar, Muema's high school football coach added "at this point, we just hope he's safe. As long as he's safe. That's all that really matters." Muema exited the Combine after saying God told him he would be a Seattle Seahawk if he skipped workouts.

San Diego State RB Adam Muema cited religious reasons for leaving the NFL Scouting Combine on Sunday without working out.

"(God) told me to sit down, be quiet, and enjoy the peace," Muema said, indicating that the Almighty told him that he'd play for the Seattle Seahawks if he skipped workouts. The Aztec running back rushed 256 times for 1,244 yards and 15 touchdowns in 2013. The NFL Draft Advisory Board projects him as a third-day pick (fourth to seventh round).

San Diego State junior RB Adam Muema rushed for 229 yards and three touchdowns in the school's 49-24 win over Buffalo.

Muema's longest run of the day went for 30 yards and was a microcosm of the running back's style: a tendency to find open space while making defenders miss to avoid contact. We do wonder if that skill translates to the NFL, especially for a back that isn't overly explosive. His success against contact will need to be highlighted.

San Diego State junior RB Adam Muema tweeted he was leaving for the NFL, but later deleted the post.

"I'm declaring to the NFL, there's no secret," Muema posted on Monday. The school noted they are aware of the statement, but have no further comment at this time. "I know Keith Smith (linebacker from San Diego State) is coming out. The two of them may come out together," Lou Farrar, Muema's high school coach, said. The two were childhood friends. The junior rushed for 1,015 yards and 12 touchdowns this year.

Adam Muema has stood out in the competition to replace Ronnie Hillman at running back.

Not that coach Rocky Long is necessarily looking to give virtually all the work to one running back. Hillman was quite a workhorse for the Aztecs, but Long said multiple players could see situational work. Still, Muema is the only experienced running back having picked up 253 yards (6.0 ypc) in the six games he served as Hillman’s backup last season. Muema, who will be a sophomore, is competing with a trio of freshmen.
