Seahawks signed USC RB Tre Madden.
Madden (6'0/223) arrived at USC as a four-star recruit but couldn't get off the shelf, missing time with turf toe, hamstring, and knee injuries and playing in only 20 college games. He finished his career with 1,155 yards and eight TDs on 223 carries (5.18 YPC), adding 32 receptions. Healthy for the Trojans' Pro Day, Madden ran 4.56 with a 10-foot broad jump and 33 1/2-inch vertical. Madden has adequate athleticism, but lacks NFL-level production and durability. Ultimately a replacement-level back, Madden is essentially Vick Ballard 2.0. May 4 - 3:12 PM

USC RB Tre Madden (knee) indicated that he was back to full health for USC's Pro Day on Wednesday.

"[Teams] ask about the injuries. But I’m trying to show them my athleticism and how fresh I feel," Madden said. It's at least somewhat remarkable that the 6-foot, 217-pounder has already recovered from the knee surgery he underwent at the close of the 2015 season. During Wednesday's Pro Day, he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.60 and 4.61 seconds, with a 20-yard shuttle sprint of 4.27 seconds and a three-cone drill dance of 7.09 seconds. In addition to those running feats, he also logged a 33.5-inch vertical jump and an even 10 feet on the broad jump. Even beyond the recent knee surgery, injuries have been a major concern for Madden throughout his career. A knee injury sidelined him in 2012 and a turf toe injury did likewise in 2014. This is a large part of the reason he received just 223 total carries with the Trojans during his sometime-interrupted career.

USC redshirt senior RB Tre Madden underwent knee surgery and will miss the Holiday Bowl.

Madden missed four games down the stretch with his knee ailment. While he played in USC's last two games, he received just eight carries combined across those two contests. Following the close of the regular season, he underwent knee surgery. HC Clay Helton's ruled him out for the team's Holiday Bowl match-up against Wisconsin on December 30. With the 6-foot-1, 225-pound redshirt senior down for the count, freshman RB Ronald Jones figures to see most of the carries versus the Badgers.

USC redshirt senior RB Tre Madden (knee) will miss Friday's game against Colorado.

Madden is still feeling soreness in his knee, so the Trojans have decided to give him the week off. "We decided we’re going to rest him this week, reevaluate next week and it may be a couple-week thing," HC Clay Helton said. "We’ll have to see, but at this point in time, we want to get him back 100% healthy." Madden played through the bone bruise in his knee the past few weeks, but he didn't look very good in last week’s victory against Arizona. The 6-foot-1, 225-pound redshirt senior has 418 yards and five touchdowns this year.

USC redshirt senior RB Tre Madden rushed for 62 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries in Saturday's 27-21 win over Cal.

Not a spectacular yardage game for Madden, though he did score a short touchdown in the second quarter. Ronald Jones actually out-rushed him by 18 yards on three fewer carries. In seven games, the 6-foot-1, 225-pound redshirt senior's rumbled for 418 yards and five touchdowns.

USC interim coach Clay Helton "sounded optimistic" that redshirt senior RB Tre Madden (knee) will be able to play versus Notre Dame on Saturday, according to The Orange County Register's Michael Lev.

The USC prospect has been dealing with a tender knee and has been limited the last two days at practice. Interim coach Clay Helton told the OC Register that it's been a "preventative" measure.

USC redshirt senior RB Tre Madden (knee/calf) "should be good to go" for the Arizona State game, according to USC HC Steve Sarkisian.

The USC back tweaked his surgically repaired left knee as he was reaching back for an under thrown pass in USC's 41-31 loss to Standford last Saturday. Madden was limited in practice earlier this week, working against the scout team, but did not participate in full-contact team work.

USC redshirt senior RB Tre Madden rushed 12 times for 106 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's win over Arkansas State.

More than half of Madden's yardage came early in the second quarter, as he burst forth to break a weak arm tackle attempt on his way to a 65-yard touchdown run. The 6-foot-1, 225-pound redshirt senior rushed for 703 yards and three scores last season while backing up Buck Allen. In the spring, ESPN's Greg Katz wrote that there could be a "wealth of potential" here if he can stay healthy.

USC redshirt senior RB Tre Madden is "he biggest enigma of draft-eligible Trojans for the 2016 draft," notes ESPN's Greg Katz.

"The senior has physical gifts but has yet to show he can make it through a season without injury," Katz wrote. "If he does perform to what many feel is a wealth of potential, his stock could rise in a hurry." Madden's grandfather is former Los Angeles Rams RB Lawrence McCutcheon. The 6-foot-1, 225-pound Madden ran for 703 yards and three touchdowns last season. After beginning the season with six straight games over 90 yards, he didn't crack 60 again and missed three games.

The Orange County Register reports that it's "more than likely" that USC redshirt junior RB Tre Madden and senior LB Lamar Dawson won't play again this season.

A final decision will be made within the next seven days. Dawson, who hasn't played this year, underwent knee surgery last season and is leaning toward redshirting. "If you held a gun to my head today, I would imagine that Lamar would redshirt and we would have him available for spring practice and ready for the fall," USC coach Steve Sarkisian said. Madden suffered a turf-toe injury in summer camp. The Trojans thought they were close to getting him back last week but then the junior suffered another setback. "Obviously, he is really frustrated," Sarkisian said. "We were all excited to see Tre play and thought he was poised for a really good season. He had a great spring practice, a really good training camp, and, boom, you get turf toe." If Madden doesn't play this year, he could conceivably apply for a waiver that would allow him to retain two seasons of eligibility.

The Orange County Register reports that USC Coach Steve Sarkisian indicated that redshirt junior RB Tre Madden will probably sit out Saturday’s game at Boston College.

"He’s a lot further along than where he was 2½ weeks ago. (But) he’s not 100 percent," Sarkisian said. "I’m hopeful we can get through this game, get through the bye and then get him ready to go for Oregon State (on Sept. 27) so that thing’s not lingering." The 6-foot-1, 225 pound Madden, was moved up on the depth chart this week, but it looks like Sarkisian would like Madden to be fully healthy before he makes his way back into the lineup.

The Los Angeles Daily News reports that USC redshirt junior RB Tre Madden could be out for a month because of his turf toe injury.

Originally Madden was thought to be a game-time decision, but if he happened to miss up to a month, Madden would miss the Trojans' opener against Fresno St., the Pac-12 opener against Stanford, and Boston College Sept. 13th. After a bye, USC will face Oregon State on Sept. 27th, which could be a target date for Madden's likely return, if the injury report holds up. Madden suffered the lingering toe injury in summer camp and has not been able to shake the pain.

USC redshirt junior RB Tre Madden (toe) is considered questionable for the opener against Fresno State and will be a game-time decision.

"[W]e’re taking every precautionary action we can to make sure that Tre is great and ready to go when his time is called again," coach Steve Sarkisian said. Madden suffered a lingering toe injury in summer camp and has not been able to shake the pain. Sarkisian said the running back, who has been wearing a walking boot on his right foot, is "probably a game-time decision." "When you start messing with a running back and his feet or his toes, his ability to push off, they just don’t overnight, all of a sudden, get better," Sarkisian said. "We’re trying to maximize his rest. We’re trying to keep him off his feet as best we can to get him as healthy as quickly as we can and hopefully have him ready to go for next Saturday."

USC redshirt sophomore RB Tre Madden is considered questionable for Saturday's game against Notre Dame.

Madden injured his hamstring during the game against Arizona. The former linebacker had been running as the team's top ball carrier, totaling 611 yards and three touchdowns this season. The school could lean on Silas Redd if Madden is out, which they did in the second half against Arizona.

Tre Madden, who moved to running back from linebacker this spring, will miss the 2012 season after tearing a ligament in his left knee.

Coach Lane Kiffin moved Madden to running back to help build depth in an offensive backfield that was decimated by injuries last season. It would have been interesting to see how Madden would have fared during the spring game, but those plans are on hold for at least another year. Madden played all 12 games as a backup linebacker and special teamer in 2011.
