Oklahoma State WR Josh Stewart "did an unbelievable job of catching punts" at his pro day on Thursday, says NFL.com's Gil Brandt.
Stewart needed to look like a punt returning virtuoso because he goes 5-foot-9 7/8, 176 pounds and managed forty times of just 4.69 and 4.65 seconds in Stillwater, better than he put up at the combine. Stewart led OSU with 60 receptions and ranked second in receiving yards with 703 last season. In addition, he's a tremendous punt returner who finished fourth in the nation with 16.7 yards per attempt (two TDs in 22 returns). You might think that he'd be confined to special teams in the pros, but Stewart's ball skills are good and he has an innate ability of finding open spaces on the field as a receiver. Mar 15 - 8:00 PM

Oklahoma State junior WR Josh Stewart earned an Eddie Royal comparison from NFL.com's Charles Davis.

"The Cowboys will line him up in the backfield occasionally (he has six rushes for 38 yards), and he's also a terrific punt returner... Stewart is a well-built homerun hitter," Davis writes. The Cowboys offense has really struggled this season, rotating between BW Walsh and Clint Chelf, which is uncommon for a unit that has had plenty of success in recent years.

Oklahoma State sophomore Josh Stewart has taken over the lead WR role for the Cowboys in recent weeks.

After being held to one catch in the first game of the season, Stewart has recorded 47 catches for 568 yards and three touchdowns in six games. Stewart certainly has big shoes to fill, with Justin Blackmon and Josh Cooper departing to the NFL after last season, but he could be the next big producer for the Cowboys.

Impressive spring could lead to receiver Josh Stewart taking over for Josh Cooper.

The Pokes lost a pair of receivers that left their mark in Stillwater: Justin Blackmon and Josh Cooper. There is opportunity for a couple of receivers to make their mark and receivers coach Doug Meacham can’t say enough good things about Stewart. Though not the biggest of receivers at 5-10, Stewart has demonstrated great ability in finding the open spaces and his ball skills are very strong. As a freshman, Stewart was 19-291-2 and is one of the team’s leading returning receivers and could slide into the spot Cooper vacated.
