Cincinnati senior RB George Winn rushed for 130 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries Thursday against Duke.
Winn showed of what we had seen all season, straight-line running ability with a growing skill to make defenders miss at the second level. He doesn't have that burst to instantly create space, but Winn runs with his shoulders squared and utilized a lateral cut to pick up extra yards in this bowl game. Fri, Dec 28, 2012 08:33:00 AM

Cincinnati senior RB George Winn rushed for 125 yards on 26 carries Friday night against Louisville.

Winn is a very hard runner, carrying the ball high and tight will keeping close to his blockers. However, other than the occasional broken arm tackle, we aren't sure if he can create yards on his own. Still, in his first year as a starter, Winn has had a nice season.

Cincinnati beat writer Bill Koch states that senior George Winn is the Bearcats breakout RB.

Prior to the 2012 season, Winn was set to share carries between sophomores Ralph David Abernathy IV and Jameel Poteat, but through four games the senior has single-handedly taken over the ball carrying duties. Winn is now the second-leading rusher in the Big East Conference with 446 rushing yards on 6.6 yards per carry.

George Winn is the most experienced of a trio of running backs that will take over for Isaiah Pead.

Winn was Pead’s primary backup last season, not that it provided much work as Pead had 237 totes. Winn was 40-219-2 and only once had more than six carries in a game. He will be a senior next season and is the leader of a trio that also includes sophomores-to-be Jameel Poteat and Ralph David Abernathy IV.
