Former Auburn freshman Zeke Pike is transferring to Louisville after being let go from the Tigers' football team, and will move to TE.
Pike was basically dismissed from the Auburn squad, although that word was not used, after he was arrested for public intoxication. The freshman practiced at quarterback with the Tigers this spring but will transfer to Louisville and make a position switch to TE. Pike will be forced to sit out the season due to NCAA rules. Updating a previous item, freshman QB Zeke Pike will not be returning to Auburn and instead will transfer to a school yet to be named.

"They’re not with our football team anymore. Their intent is to transfer to another school. We wish them the best," Chizik said of Pike and sophomore defensive back Jonathan Rose.

Freshman QB Zeke Pike will miss the opening of preseason practice and his future with Auburn remains unclear.

Pike was sent home earlier this summer by head coach Gene Chizik after he was arrested for public intoxication in June. The freshman enrolled early and practiced with the Tigers this spring before his departure. "Right now, he's at home and he'll remain there. We'll continue to evaluate that. We're in communication," said Chizik.

Pike was a big-time recruit and early enrollee who participated in spring drills. He will continue to compete for playing time with Kiehl Frazier and Clint Moseley.

Learning Auburn’s offense has been a tall order for early enrollee Zeke Pike, who adapted and showed much improvement as the spring progressed.

Instead of prepping for final exams as a high school senior, Pike has been tested time and again by the learning curve that is a major-college offense. There is indeed a lot to learn, but Pike has made noticeable progress in understanding the nuances OC Scot Loeffler’s pro-style system.
