Reed announced he was transferring out of Memphis in April following his participation in spring ball. Quarterback Taylor Reed appears to be headed out of Memphis.

Reed had a nice freshman season under Larry Porter in 2011. He started nine games and threw for 1,690 yards with 10 touchdowns and only 4 interceptions. The problem for the Tigers is that is about all the passing game produced as they finished 109th in pass efficiency. Jacob Karam, who transferred from Texas Tech, appeared to take the lead this spring in the competition for No. 1 under new coach Justin Fuente. That, combined with the coaching change, undoubtedly prompted Reed to look elsewhere -- something three other Memphis QBs have done in the last couple years.
