TFY Draft Insider's Tony Pauline wrote that he had problems seeing Duke senior QB Anthony Boone as anything other than a free agent.
Boone has passed for 1,970 yards, 14 touchdowns and six interceptions this year. Analyst Pauline was not impressed with Saturday's game against Virginia Tech. In that game, wrote Pauline, "Boone missed three wide open receivers [in the first half] which would’ve put the game out of reach for Duke." The senior was 18-of-40 on passes in the game--the third time this season in which Boone has completed fewer than half of his passes. Pauline's best comparison for the quarterback was former Georgia Tech slinger Joe Hamilton. Nov 17 - 6:23 PM

Duke senior QB Anthony Boone has accepted an invitation to play in the East-West Shrine game.

The senior quarterback group is fairly weak this season, but Boone has plenty of starting experience in a David Cutcliffe offense. Boone has displayed the ability to stick to the pocket and hit receivers at multiple levels of the field. He has been subbed out in certain situations in favor of a mobile quarterback, however.

Duke redshirt senior QB Anthony Boone completed 19-of-33 attempts for 180 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in a 41-3 victory over Kansas.

After throwing 13 interceptions last year (against only 13 touchdowns), Boone hasn't yet tossed the ball to the opposition in 2014. Of course, Duke has played a cake schedule (Elon, Troy and KU) in starting 3-0. CBS Sports' Derek Stephens wrote over the summer that Boone possessed "enough arm talent to make an NFL roster." The athletic, 6-foot, 230-pounder "has struggled with consistency and decision-making thus far in his college career," Stephens wrote at the time. We'll see what happens when ACC play starts up.

Duke HC David Cutcliffe still plans on using two QBs this season, according to Fox Sports' Lauren Brownlow.

Brandon Connette, who started a number of games for Duke last season while Anthony Boone was recovering from a broken collarbone, transferred this offseason. Many thought the multiple quarterback system disappeared with him. However, Brownlow points to redshirt sophomore Thomas Sirk and redshirt freshman Parker Boehme as possible running/mobile replacements for Connette's role.

Duke redshirt senior QB Anthony Boone possesses "enough arm talent to make an NFL roster," according to CBS Sports' Derek Stephens.

The athletic, 6-foot, 230-pounder "has struggled with consistency and decision-making thus far in his college career," Stephens wrote. Boone isn't tall, but as Stephens suggests, he possesses a surprisingly strong arm attached to a sturdy frame. After taking over for Sean Renfree, a seventh-round selection of the Falcons in the 2013 NFL Draft, Boone threw for 2,260 yards with a mediocre 13/13 TD/INT ratio last year. He missed three games in September with a broken collarbone. "Better poise and accuracy from the pocket could mean a chance to be selected in 2015," Stephens wrote.

Duke redshirt junior QB Anthony Boone completed 29 of 45 attempts for 427 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions in the school's 52-48 loss to Texas A&M.

Boone does not mind sitting in the pocket and working through his progressions, and he carved up Texas A&M's defense early due to a lack of pressure. His final two interceptions were crushing, but Boone is talented and has another season of eligibility next season.

Duke redshirt junior QB Anthony Boone completed 24 of 29 attempts for 256 yards and three touchdowns in 28-21 win over Wake Forest.

Boone missed a large portion of action this season due to a broken collarbone, but he has played well since returning to the field. He is taken off the field on many short yardage situations, but Boone displays nice placement to various levels of the field. He added 57 rushing yards in this one.

Duke redshirt junior QB Anthony Boone is considered a game-time decision for Saturday's game against Navy.

Head coach David Cutcliffe said Boone has "passed all the necessary x-rays and scans, and has responded well each day." Boone has been out since early September due to a broken collarbone, but he drew praise this offseason. He's a name to keep in mind next year.

Duke redshirt junior QB Anthony Boone is considered day-to-day after recovering from a broken collarbone.

Boone has missed game action since early September, but it appears he might play against Navy. He began throwing a few weeks ago, which is always a good sign. Boone drew a lot of buzz during the offseason, and it hasn't helped that junior Brandon Connette hasn't impressed since taking over.

Duke redshirt junior QB Anthony Boone has started throwing again following his broken collarbone.

Boone has been out since early September, and although he isn't fully practicing, the quarterback is on the path to recovery. Duke is off after this weekend's game, and we wonder if Boone will suit up for the October 12 contest against Navy.

Duke redshirt junior QB Anthony Boone has been ruled out indefinitely with a broken collarbone.

There is no timetable for Boone's return. Duke head coach David Cutcliffe will now move to redshirt junior Brandon Connette and true freshman Parker Boehme will back him up. Boone had completed 75 percent of his passes in Duke's 2-0 start. The Blue Devils face Georgia Tech on Saturday.

Senior Bowl executive director Phil Savage is looking forward to seeing what Duke head coach David Cutcliffe does with redshirt junior QB Anthony Boone.

Savage tweeted that Boone has all the tools "except for great height." Boone has patiently waited for his time behind Sean Renfree, who started gaining steam later during the draft process despite an injured shoulder. The redshirt junior currently has a 53.4 completion percentage, accounting for six touchdowns and three interceptions on 148 attempts.

Duke coach David Cutcliffe has expressed a desire to use multiple quarterbacks, which could a boon to Anthony Boone.

Where Cutcliffe is coming from is that he wants the best players on the field. Sean Renfree is the No. 1 QB, no question. But a given situation might dictate going with Boone under center or using Boone, who is a good runner, in another capacity in certain packages. As a freshman last season, Boone threw for 298 yards 1 TD/1 INT and he ran for 129 yards with 4 touchdowns.
