Former FSU junior QB Clint Trickett is transferring to West Virginia, according to ESPN's Joe Schad.
Schad also notes that Trickett, "is eligible to compete for the starting position this season." He added "Trickett chose West Virginia over USF and Auburn. Trickett believes he is an ideal fit for the West Virginia offense." It will surely be an interesting quarterback competition for Dana Holgorsen this summer. May 1 - 11:40 AM

Florida State junior QB Clint Trickett has been granted his release from the program.

"After a long meeting with Clint, he expressed he'd like to explore another playing opportunity, and I've signed off on his wish," head coach Jimbo Fisher said. Trickett had a chance to start in 2013, but it appears freshman Jameis Winston is in line for that spot now. Trickett is rumored to be interested in visiting USF and West Virginia, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

If nothing else, Clint Trickett showed this spring that he is ready to step in and guide the Seminoles if the opportunity presents itself.

The opportunity actually presented itself last season against Clemson. Starting for the injured E.J. Manuel, Trickett threw for 336 yards and 3 touchdowns (one INT) in defeat. That is merely a one-game sample, yet it demonstrated Trickett can come in and play well. He demonstrated again this spring that he is ready to lead the offense should something happen to Manuel, who is the No. 1.
