Saints selected Georgia NT John Jenkins with the No. 82 overall pick.
The Saints moved up to select Jenkins, sending the Nos. 106 and 109 picks to the Dolphins. Jenkins (6-4, 359) is a nimble mover despite mammoth size and flashed pocket-pushing ability for the Dawgs. He tallied eight tackles for loss and four sacks as a two-year starter in Georgia's 3-4, playing both nose and five technique. Jenkins drew pre-draft comparisons to Red Bryant and Shaun Rogers, though Rotoworld prospects guru Josh Norris has described Jenkins as a "teddy bear" who lacks consistent toughness. NFL.com's Daniel Jeremiah writes teams are concerned about Georgia NT John Jenkins keeping his weight in check in the future.

"Jenkins is an enormous man with the power and strength to develop into a dominant 3-4 nose tackle. However, his motor isn't consistently running, and teams are concerned he will struggle to keep his weight in check," Jeremiah writes about Jenkins, who he listed as a boom-or-bust prospect. Jenkins recently lost weight, checking in at 338 pounds. Whether he remains at it or drops even more is in question, however.

National Football Post's Russ Lande writes that Georgia NT John Jenkins is overrated.

"Overall, I have no doubt that Jenkins has legitimate first round talent for a nose tackle, but his lack of consistency and production would keep me from drafting him that high. I think he would be a great fourth round pick and a decent risk in the third round, but anything higher than that would be a huge reach in my opinion." Jenkins has evaluators split on his talent and potential but could still end up being a day two selection.

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports Georgia NT John Jenkins visited the Tennessee Titans and will visit the San Francisco 49ers.

Jenkins is a wide body that could very much appeal to both teams. They are both looking to add girth on the defensive line and that's certainly what Jenkins offers at 338 pounds. They'll have some competitors though, as it appears that the Pittsburgh Steelers and New Orleans Saints have also shown interest in the Georgia nose tackle. He's expected to be a day two selection.

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports the Pittsburgh Steelers and New Orleans Saints could have interest in Georgia NT John Jenkins.

Jenkins ran an impressive pair of 40 times at the school's pro day, clocking in at 5.20 and 5.23. He would be a great fit in the Saints' new 3-4 defense, as well as the Steelers' constant 3-4 scheme but they already have a quality nose tackle in Steve McLendon. Still, Jenkins will interest the Steelers because of his upside and rare talent.

Georgia NT John Jenkins ranks as the 25th overall prospect in the 2013 NFL Draft, according to Scouts Inc.

Jenkins fits in Scouts Inc.'s fourth tier, with the designation reading that "these prospects have the tools to be good value picks in the late-first round." The massive Georgia defensive lineman earned a grade of 90 and was listed in the same tier as Sylvester Williams. We aren't nearly as high on Jenkins.

Yahoo! Sports' Doug Farrar ranks Georgia DT John Jenkins as the 49th overall prospect.

"I could see him as an elite nose tackle or one-tech shade guy (where the Shaun Rogers comparison comes in, he reminds me of Rogers in his ability to slip off blocks), a big three-tech in rushing downs, or a Red Bryant-style big five-tech run-stopping end," Farrar writes. He adds that reaching the perceieved "upside" is up to Jenkins, but the improvement over the last few years are a good indication.

NFL Network's Mike Mayock called Georgia NT John Jenkins' hot-and-cold motor the biggest concern for Jenkins' NFL outlook.

"When he's healthy, when he's not winded, when he turns that motor on, it's special," Mayock said. "And you want him to be your 3-4 nose tackle or your nose shade in the 4-3. You want this kid as a two-gapping run stuffer. You want him pushing the pocket. But too often, you don't see that." Motor is often a concern for mammoth defensive linemen. Jenkins weighed in at an unruly 6-foot-3 7/8 and 359 pounds this week.

Dallas Cowboys writer and former NFL scout Bryan Broaddus tweeted that Georgia NT John Jenkins will not be on the Cowboys radar in the first-round.

"He will go in first most likely but not here," Broaddus said. The Cowboys will move to a 4-3 base defense next season and faced multiple injuries to their front seven in 2012. Despite needs at other positions, a defensive lineman in the first-round appears very likely for the Cowboys.

Georgia NT John Jenkins will attend the Senior Bowl.

Jenkins will not be playing in the team's bowl game after being ruled academically ineligible, but the hefty nose tackle will have a chance to impress in Mobile. The Bulldogs were lucky to have two massive defensive linemen in Jenkins and Kwame Geathers, but the former flashed fatigue issues. Obviously he needs to hold his own against the run as the anchor of the interior, but any nose tackle that can help in the pass rush is always coveted by NFL teams.

Georgia head coach Mark Richt announced that starting senior NT John Jenkins will miss the team's bowl game due to academic issues.

It was believed that Jenkins was dealing with concussion-like symptoms, therefore he had been sidelined during bowl practices. However, it now appears as if Jenkins would not have been able to play in the game regardless of health. Jenkins will have a chance to put on pads one more time prior to April's Draft during Senior Bowl week, where he can cement his status as a top-64 pick with solid practices.

Georgia senior NT John Jenkins is dealing with concussion symptoms and has been held out of practice because of them.

We aren't exactly sure when Jenkins suffered this concussion, but it was likely against Alabama in the SEC Championship game. No details were given on if Jenkins is expected to play in the team's bowl game against Nebraska.

Georgia senior NT John Jenkins ranks as the 13th overall prospect on Rob Rang's Big Board.

This puts Jenkins as the third defensive tackle behind Utah's Star Lotulelei and Missouri's Sheldon Richardson. The Bulldog obviously possesses massive size and projects as a nose tackle in the NFL. Jenkins really flashed at times, showcasing a solid anchor and an ability to press the pocket.

Scouts Inc.'s Todd McShay revealed that six draft-eligible prospects tied for his highest preseason grade, one being Georgia senior NT John Jenkins.

A few months ago, McShay noted that if Jenkins continued his end season production in 2012, he could be a breakout star and cited his massive frame and quick feet. We have not witnessed that caliber of play from Jenkins yet, but if his switch turns on he could be a much different prospect. He loses on first contact too often and we believe a nose tackle needs to show tremendous movement skills to warrant a top-ten pick. USC senior quarterback Matt Barkley, NC State junior cornerback David Amerson, Alabama senior guard Chance Warmack, LSU junior defensive end Barkevious Mingo, and Utah senior defensive tackle Star Lotulelei tied with Jenkins for the highest grade.

Despite being the senior member of the Bulldogs' defensive line, NT Johnathan Jenkins will continue to rotate snaps with junior NT Kwame Geathers this season.

Both men are behemoths, with Jenkins measuring in at 6'3/351 pounds and Geathers at 6'5/350 pounds, so the rotation should be good for their stamina. It is never a bad thing to have that much mass up front, but Jenkins needs to dish out the punishment more often instead of absorbing on initial contact. Reports have said the Georgia defense has manhandled the school's young offensive line this spring, and that success should continue into the fall.
