Eagles selected Oregon State CB Jordan Poyer with the No. 218 overall pick.
Poyer (5-foot-11 7/8, 191) tied for second nationally in interceptions (7) last season and picked off 13 in his career as a three-year starter. He added two forced fumbles and seven tackles for loss, also returning a punt for a touchdown as a junior. Poyer ran 4.54 in Indy with an underwhelming 30.5-inch vertical and isn't a great athlete, but he is a physical corner with ballhawking traits. Poyer looks like a steal in the seventh round; many draftniks considered him a day-two prospect at worst. Sat, Apr 27, 2013 06:08:00 PM

Draft insider Tony Pauline has heard Jordan Poyer is being passed on boards due to speed concerns.

Poyer's game isn't built on speed, rather an ability to play in multiple coverages and an awareness to understand route concepts and anticipate the throw. He could project as a slot corner, but don't rule out Poyer making an impact during his rookie season, even if he is selected in the third-round.

Oregon State CB Jordan Poyer ran an official forty time of 4.54 seconds at the NFL Combine.

Poyer's forty and 10 yard split of 1.53 seconds fits with his style of play. Don't confuse the Beavers' corner as an exceptional athlete, but Poyer is a very solid corner with the versatility to play man or zone. We like his value in the third- or fourth-rounds.

Oregon State CB Jordan Poyer will attend the Senior Bowl in late January.

Poyer is one of the nation's leaders in interceptions and possesses the skills to fit a variety of coverages. The senior has a few off field situations that will need be to answered during interviews, but Poyer should show well down in Mobile.

Oregon State senior CB Jordan Poyer returned to practice on Monday after recovering from a PCL sprain.

"I wouldn’t say I’m 100 percent, but it’s pretty close," Poyer said. "I’m going to keep getting treatment, but I can run without pain now." The Beavers face Stanford on Saturday, and expect Poyer to be on the field.

Oregon State senior CB Jordan Poyer is unlikely to play against Arizona State Saturday due to a PCL sprain.

The injury is to Poyer's right knee and "while he's technically listed as day to day, sounds like he won't play," according to beat writer Lendsay Schnell. On the field, Poyer is one of the top seniors at the position and has consistently showcased those talents this season. However, teams will have to check some off the field issues during the evaluation process. Poyer has never missed a game in his collegiate career, playing in all 43 contests.

Oregon State senior CB Jordan Poyer intercepted his fifth pass against BYU on Saturday, and this one went for a touchdown.

All five of Poyer's interceptions have come in the last three games, so expect opposing offenses to stop targeting his side of the field. The senior is a top three talent at his position due to his versatility in multiple coverages, but we would like to see Pyer improve in his run defense.

The previously postponed game between Oregon State and Nicholls State has now been rescheduled for December 1.

There is a mutual understanding that the game will not be played if Oregon State manages to play for the Pac-12 championship or if Nicholls State qualifies for the NCAA FCS playoffs.

Wisconsin head coach Bret Bielema has refused to send Oregon State game tape from the Badgers' week one win over Northern Iowa.

As customary, programs usually exchange game tape from the prior week's performance, but since Oregon State's showdown against Nicholls Sate was postponed due to Hurricane Isaac, Bielema felt it was unfair to give something away since he would not receive anything in return. Northern Iowa held Wisconsin to less than four yards per carry, so it is certainly a game worth watching to note the defensive success, even if the television angle is the only tape available.

CBS Sports' Rob Rang ranks Jordan Poyer as Oregon State's top draft-eligible prospect and considers him the fourth best senior CB heading into the 2012 season.

A former safety that only has two years of experience at cornerback, Poyer looked like a natural last season while breaking up 12 passes and hauling in four interceptions. Rang likes Poyer's confidence and athleticism on an outside island in Oregon State's blitz-heavy scheme, where he uses physical play to disrupt the receiver's routes and stay in their hip pocket. However, Poyer does have difficulties playing the run and was arrested in May at a local bar, so he will need to improve on those aspects to warrant an early round selection.

Oregon State senior CB Jordan Poyer was arrested at a local bar for second-degree criminal trespassing on May 19.

Apparently the situation began with an incident on February 5 when Poyer was banned from the same bar. This news came only two weeks after Poyer was named to the Lott trophy watch list. Named first-team All-Pac-12 after accumulating 57 tackles and four interceptions last season, Poyer was expected to be one of the conference's top defensive backs. There has been no word on his punishment.
