CBS Sports' Rob Rang suggests USC CB Nickell Robey is a candidate to "light up" the Combine due to his impressive athleticism.
Robey is listed at just 5-foot-8, 165, but Rang insists he's "much tougher" than his size might indicate and he was an accomplished long jumper and sprinter for USC track and field. Given a third-day grade from the NFL Draft Advisory Board, Robey could vault himself into the second day with a big Combine showing. Most NFL teams will likely still view Robey as a nickel back prospect. Mon, Jan 14, 2013 12:24:00 PM

Date:

USC junior CB Nickell Robey will forgo his final season of eligibility and enter the 2013 NFL Draft.

Robey received a third day grade from the NFL Draft Advisory Board, but the repeated criticism on the Trojan is his size, and that wouldn't have changed if he returned in 2013. He was easily USC's top corner all season long and offers three years of starting experience as a mid round pick.

USC junior CB Nickell Robey received a fourth-round grade, or later, from the NFL Draft Advisory Board.

Robey had previously stated he will return to USC if his grade was below a second-rounder, but the junior will wait until Thursday to announce his decision. The Trojans' corner will be considered undersized, but he was easily the team's best edge cover man while Lane Kiffin tried to find a player on the roster worth starting alongside him.

USC junior CB Nickell Robey said he will return to school for the 2013 season if he receives a draft projection that is less than a second-round grade.

Robey was easily the Trojans best corner this season and Monte Kiffin's defense struggled to find a counterpart on the opposite side all year. He may be undersized, but Robey can be physical with receivers in man coverage along with having enough speed to cover a lot of ground.
