Packers signed Ohio State TE Jake Stoneburner.
Stoneburner (6-foot-4, 252) played wide receiver as a senior, though he caught just 16 passes for 269 yards (16.8 YPR) and four touchdowns. He only caught 53 balls in his four-year career. Stoneburner helped his stock at the Combine with a 4.65 forty, 1.60 ten-yard split, and 34.5-inch vertical. His red flags are weak production and a June 2012 arrest. Stoneburner is one of seven tight ends on the Packers' roster. Sat, Apr 27, 2013 10:06:00 PM

Scouts Inc.'s Steve Muench believes Ohio State TE Jake Stoneburner could be a day three sleeper.

"He was underused at Ohio State, I think, at Ohio State in that run heavy system," Muench says. "He didn't get a lot of targets. I also think this is a deep tight end class, which is going to push him back a little bit... He can work the seam, he can stretch the field. He is good but not great after the catch." Stoneburner, a converted wide receiver, also put together a strong Combine workout.

Ohio State's Jake Stoneburner is "definitely a TE on the rise," according to draft insider Tony Pauline.

Pauline notes that Stonerburner ran in the 4.52 range at his pro day, a tenth of a second faster than at the Combine. "He was terrific in pass catching drills and caught everything thrown in his direction," Pauline wrote. Stoneburner was used as a receiver this past season.

Ohio State junior Jake Stoneburner has officially been moved to WR after lining up as a TE the last few seasons.

Stoneburner started his career as a wide receiver, so this is not unfamiliar territory for the 6'5/245 pound target. Head coach Urban Meyer attributed the move to Jeff Heuerman and Nick Vannett's development at the tight end position and mentioned that Stoneburner is "going to be our Hernandez-type guy, a guy that can do some things." As a junior, Stoneburner collected 193 yards on 14 catches, seven of which were touchdowns.

Ohio State junior TE Jake Stoneburner and sophomore LT Jack Mewhort have yet to be reinstated but should "in a matter of days."

Head coach Urban Meyer suspended both indefinitely in June for their offseason arrests before stripping them of their scholarships, along with other penalties. On the reinstatement, Meyer said "There are a variety of things they’ve done and they have to continue to do that. If it continues as is, they will report next Friday."
