Dolphins selected Tennessee OL Dallas Thomas with the No. 77 overall pick.
Thomas (6-5, 306) made 37 starts for the Vols, 25 at left tackle as a sophomore and junior, and 12 at left guard as a senior. In 2012, Thomas did not allow a single sack of Tyler Bray although he was penalty prone, getting flagged six times. Thomas has short arms (33 1/8") and is coming off surgery to repair a torn labrum in his shoulder. When healthy, he projects as a left guard or finesse right tackle. However, there is a legitimate chance he earns the left tackle job for the Dolphins, but his versatility only helps. Fri, Apr 26, 2013 09:30:00 PM

NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah writes that Tennessee OT Dallas Thomas is a boom-or-bust prospect.

"There isn't an ideal boom-or-bust candidate among the interior offensive linemen. However, if I had to choose one, I would go with Thomas. He has the tools to be one of the top interior blockers in this class, but he's very inconsistent on tape. He dominates in some moments and has mental lapses -- leading him to give up pressures -- in others," Jeremiah writes.

ESPN Boston's Mike Reiss reports the Tennessee OT Dallas Thomas and LSU OG Chris Faulk visited the New England Patriots.

On Thomas, Reiss writes: "With starting guards Logan Mankins (31) and Dan Connolly (30) the two oldest players on the line, adding solid youth and depth makes sense at some point in the draft. Thomas’ history at tackle, similar to Mankins coming out of Fresno State, only adds to his value and highlights his athleticism." As for Faulk, Reiss writes, "Faulk is more of a developmental prospect and his visit was likely tied to medical questions. He enters the draft after his junior season, even though he played just one game in 2012 before sustaining a season-ending right knee injury. Faulk had surgery to repair his MCL and ACL and only took part in the bench press at the combine. He has NFL-type size to work with, and analysts note he is coachable but also plays with a mean streak."

Green Bay packers HC Mike McCarthy said the team's offensive line will be better in 2013.

"You can write that down," McCarthy added. The Packers are always a tough team to peg in April, but they have spent two early picks in recent years along the offensive line. Depending on free agency, they could be looking at adding more talent in the front five in April.

Tennessee OL Dallas Thomas will not participate in drills during the NFL Combine due to a torn labrum.

The injury is to Thomas' right shoulder. He was forced to pull out of the Senior Bowl due to the same issue. He played guard and tackle during his time at Tennessee, and that versatility will only help him.

Tennessee senior OL Dallas Thomas will move to left guard to accommodate sophomore T Antonio Richardson in the Vols' starting lineup.

Thomas has embraced the change thus far, "I've always looked at it and thought it would be fun," he said. After starting the last two seasons at left tackle, it will be interesting to see the impact the switch has on Thomas' game. We considered Thomas a quality, under the radar tackle prospect because of his athleticism to mirror and bend to recover on his island, but the move inside is not as easy as it appears.
