Texans selected North Carolina OT Brennan Williams with the No. 89 overall pick.
The Texans get a developmental prospect who could eventually push RT Derek Newton. Williams (6-6, 318) started 22 games at right tackle for the Tar Heels before a torn labrum (shoulder) cut his senior year four contests short. Williams has 34-inch arms and plus athleticism, running a 5.20 forty at his Pro Day with a 28.5-inch vertical. Smart (35 Wonderlic score) and offering upside, CBS Sports draft analyst Rob Rang has suggested Williams could prove a better NFL than college tackle. Fri, Apr 26, 2013 10:03:00 PM

UNC T Brennan Williams has a scheduled visit with the Detroit Lions.

Williams was once a highly rated right tackle at North Carolina but sustained a torn labrum this past season. He moves well enough on his feet to be a fit for a zone blocking scheme, which the league seems to be moving more and more to. Provided that his medical is clean, Williams could be a draft-day steal for some team.

UNC OT Brennan Williams is drawing interest from the Vikings and Dolphins, per USA Today's Tony Pauline.

Williams was considered a top three rounder prior to the 2012 season, but suffered a torn labrum that limited his effectiveness during his final collegiate season. He played right tackle at UNC and Williams shows enough athleticism to fit a zone blocking scheme.

CBS Sports' Rob Rang singled out UNC's Brennan Williams, LSU's Chris Faulk, and Cal's Matt Summers-Gavin as three OL prospects in need of good medicals.

Faulk missed the 2012 season due to a torn ACL but declared his intentions to enter the 2013 draft regardless. Williams suffered a torn labrum after generating preseason buzz, and Summers-Gavin dealt with recurring right knee injuries. Rang believes all three player could generate top three-round consideration if they pass medicals.

UNC senior RT Brennan Williams will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery to repair a tron labrum in his left shoulder.

Apparently Williams had not played 100 percent all season and further injured his shoulder against Duke last weekend. Prior to the season, Williams was considered a high round prospect by some, including SI's Tony Pauline, but the right tackle will suffer form this injury. Hopefully he will be healed in time for postseason all star games. Senior Travis Bond will likely move from right guard to right tackle.

UNC T Brennan Williams continues to earn recognition as one of the top senior offensive lineman prospects in college football.

SI's Tony Pauline had previously mentioned that Williams and fellow Tarheel offensive lineman Jonathan Cooper have earned high preseason grades, with the latter drawing a first-round projection. Pauline calls williams a large and athletic tackle that is a terrific pass blocker while also dominating in the running game. At 6'6/315 pounds, Brennan has played on the right side for most of his career, so he will need to show something special to move into the first-round.
